Anasta, De Belin, Weston face bans

Five-eighth Braith Anasta is set to miss the Wests Tigers' clash with the Cowboys this Saturday after being cited for a shoulder charge in his side’s win over Manly at the weekend.

Anasta was charged with a Grade 2 shoulder charge for his 64th minute hit on Sea Eagles winger David Williams and will miss the Tigers' first home game at Campbelltown with an early plea. He will risk a two-match ban if he fights the charge.

The Storm’s Dayne Weston, who joined the club earlier this year from Penrith, could also miss his new side’s next two matches after copping a Grade Two dangerous contact charge for a 54th minute crusher tackle on Titans fullback David Mead.

With an early guilty plea Weston will miss Monday night’s home game against the Dragons but should he contest the charge and lose, the reserve forward will also sit out the Round 7 away clash against the Raiders.

St George Illawarra’s Jack de Belin also faces a week on the sidelines for a Grade One dangerous throw on South Sydney enforcer Sam Burgess but teammate Jason Nightingale will escape suspension for his 76th minute careless high tackle on young hooker Apisai Koroisau.

Five-eighth Braith Anasta will miss the Wests Tigers' clash with the Cowboys this Saturday after pleading guilty a shoulder charge in his side’s win over Manly at the weekend.

Anasta was charged with a Grade 2 shoulder charge for his 64th minute hit on Sea Eagles winger David Williams and will miss the Tigers' first home game at Campbelltown after taking the early plea. He would have risked a two-match ban by fighting the charge.

Storm forward Dayne Weston will miss Monday’s home game against the Dragons after copping a one-match ban for a Grade 2 dangerous contact charge, stemming from a 54th minute crusher tackle on Titans fullback David Mead on Sunday.

St George Illawarra’s Jack de Belin will also be out for a week after pleading guilty to a Grade 1 dangerous throw on South Sydney enforcer Sam Burgess. Teammate Jason Nightingale escaped suspension for his 76th minute careless high tackle on young hooker Apisai Koroisau.

Cowboys forward Tariq Sims was not cited after being put on report for a possible shoulder charge during last night's clash against Newcastle.

It would've been good to see the replay of the hit on Roberts (I think) last night. It certainty stopped him in his tracks.

I remember seeing it live & it was an obvious shoulder charge but a bit like Harros where it was a split 2nd decision nothing in it no malice

    Chambers charged, four cop suspensions
    By Dan Walsh, Staff Writer

Storm centre Will Chambers is facing a two-to-three match ban for a shoulder charge in his side's thrilling defeat of the Dragons last night, while George Burgess, Ben Te'o, Ben Matulino and Frank Pritchard have all copped suspensions after Round 6 charges.

Chambers was cited for a shot on St George Illawarra's Josh Dugan, having caught the fullback with a blow to the face late in the first half of Monday night's match. He would cop two games with an early guilty plea and risks three games out by fighting the charge.

Meanwhile, four other players took suspensions with early guilty pleas.

Both Burgess and Te'o will miss South Sydney's massive Good Friday clash against the Bulldogs after copping one-game bans for tripping offences against Panthers fullback Matt Moylan last Friday night. Both players were brought undone by carry-over points.

Warriors hardman Matulino will spend the next two weeks on the sidelines for his 33rd minute shoulder charge on Bulldogs prop James Graham on Sunday.

Bulldogs co-captain Frank Pritchard, who is out for several months due to a pectoral injury suffered against the Warriors, was outed for a game due to a careless high tackle on Konrad Hurrell (no contest).

Titans utility Paul Carter and Panthers five-eighth Jamie Soward were also charged with careless high tackles at the weekend, but are free to play after early guilty pleas.

Early guilty pleas from Titans prop Luke Bailey (tripping), Souths halfback Adam Reynolds (chicken wing tackle) and Broncos international Sam Thaiday (crusher tackle) have seen the trio avoid suspension.

Dragons forward Joel Thompson and hooker Mitch Rein were charged with Grade 1 offences from Monday's clash against Melbourne but will escape suspension with early guilty pleas.

Sorry if this seem off topic but a hypothetical if I may....Bailey is injured but we don't tell anyone and he pleads guilty and cops a week ban and misses the game he was gunna be injured for anyways. He then has a clean sheet.....Sounds good to me.

Tell me where I have gone wrong.. coz it can't be that simple.

He did plead guilty but there is no suspension because of the grading, how ever if he is in trouble again this season there will probably some points hanging over Bails head & would miss a game for a similar charge

    Mason facing 2-3 weeks' suspension
    By Nigel Wall, Editor

Embattled Newcastle will be without the services of prop Willie Mason for two matches after the veteran forward copped a suspension for a Grade 2 shoulder charge during Round 7 against the Broncos.

Mason was slapped with his charge for a 50th-minute hit on Broncos lock Corey Parker. The former Test star accepted an early guilty plea and will miss games against the Bulldogs and Panthers.

Meanwhile, Titans prop Matt White and Panthers forward Adam Docker are facing suspension after copping dangerous throw charges from their Monday night clash.

White could be outed for two to three games for a Grade 2 offence from a tackle on Docker in the 61st minute as Sportingbet Stadium. He risks three matches if he contests the charge.

Due to carry-over points, Docker could be outed for two games for a first minute Grade 1 offence from a tackle on Dave Taylor, regardless of an early guilty plea.

Panthers skipper Kevin Kingston was charged over the same tackle as Docker but can escape suspension with an early guilty plea.

Wests Tigers prop Martin Taupau was also charged from his side's Monday win over the Eels for a Grade 1 dangerous throw on Fuifui Moimoi but will escape a ban with an early guilty plea.

Four other players - Bulldogs duo Tim Browne and Dale Finucane, plus the Warriors' Nathan Friend and Canberra's David Shillington - have escaped suspension with early guilty pleas.

Brown and Finucane each were hit with dangerous throw charges arising from the same 35th-minute tackle on South Sydney's Ben Lowe last Friday; Friend was handed his rap after a 17th-minute dangerous throw on Dragons winger Jason Nightingale; and Shillington earned the committee's scrutiny with dangerous contact on Melbourne's Ryan Hinchcliffe in the 12th minute of their clash in Canberra on Sunday.

    Docker beats dangerous throw charge
By Dan Walsh & Matt Encarnacion
    NRL.com
    8:00pm Wed 23rd April, 2014

Panthers forward Adam Docker will be free to take on the Sharks this Saturday afternoon after being found not guilty of a dangerous throw at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night.

Docker was one of seven players charged by the match review committee for a dangerous throw but was the only one to contest it.

In other judiciary news from Round 7, Penrith captain Kevin Kingston escaped suspension for his role in the same tackle with an early guilty plea, while Titans prop Matt White will spend the next fortnight on the sidelines after also taking an early guilty plea for his Grade 2 offence for a dangerous throw charge on Docker in the 61st minute.

Knights prop Willie Mason is already out for two weeks after accepting an early guilty plea for his Grade 2 shoulder charge in Newcastle's loss to the Broncos.

Also, Wests Tigers prop Martin Taupau was charged with a Grade 1 dangerous throw arising from a tackle on Parramatta's Fuifui Moimoi during the black-and-golds' win but will escape a ban with an early guilty plea.

    Simona suspended, Carter contests

    NRL.com
    4:00pm Tue 29th April, 2014

Wests Tigers centre Tim Simona has resigned himself to missing a spot in the Toa Samoa side for this weekend's Pacific Test, taking an early guilty plea for a dangerous throw charge, but Titan Paul Carter will take his careless high tackle charge to the judiciary on Wednesday night.

Simona was cited with a Grade 2 Dangerous Throw charge for his 49th-minute effort on Aidan Sezer at Leichhardt on Sunday and has taken the early plea rather than risk missing three games, meaning he has been ruled out of appearing for Samoa this weekend.

The Test counts as one of his two matches to serve, meaning he will be available for his side's Round 10 trip to Remondis Stadium.

Carter was slapped with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge for a 75th-minute shot on Wests Tigers winger David Nofoaluma. Due to his 51 carryover points Carter would have missed one game regardless of his plea so does not risk a longer suspension for fighting the charge. He will learn his fate at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night.

Canberra prop Brett White (Grade 1 Tripping on Manly's Daly Cherry-Evans) and Wests Tigers back-rower Bodene Thompson (Grade 1 Dangerous Contact – Unnecessary Use of Knee on Titan Greg Bird) have both taken the early plea and will be free to play in Round 9.

Tariq Sims suspended for two weeks
    By Dan Walsh, Staff Writer
    NRL.com
    2:03pm Tue 27th May, 2014

Cowboys enforcer Tariq Sims will sit on the sidelines for the next two weeks, including this Saturday's clash with the Storm in Townsville, after lodging an early guilty plea on a dangerous throw charge resulting from an incident in North Queensland's loss to the Raiders on Sunday.

Sims' suspension was a consequence of his lifting tackle on the Raiders' Shaun Fensom in the 36th minute of the clash in the nation's capital.

Meanwhile Broncos' back-rower Todd Lowrie is free to play against the Sea Eagles at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday after entering an early guilty plea on his high tackle charge, which came after a clumsy hit on Wests Tigers back-rower Bodene Thompson during Brisbane's close-fought win in Campbelltown.

That's a fair slap on the wrist for Tariq. He's been a bit of a hot-head for a while now 'n it's well overdue he got his wings clipped for it. A bit like our own Ryan James, focus that extra energy into your game instead of the attitude 'n his overall game could probably improve two-fold for it.
