MURMURS are getting louder that the Queensland Rugby League is getting ready to quit Suncorp Stadium as its administrative base.
While being based at the old girl at Milton makes a lot of sense for league — from a romance, and commercial, point of view — the QRL team has simply grown too big for its digs, and will have to move on.
Where to is the big question. Everyone loves the idea of a proposed shift to across the river at Davies Park at West End, as part of a new league headquarters that will incorporate a museum, office space and accommodation for touring teams and junior rep camps.
But as is the problem with a lot of good ideas, they just haven’t worked out who is going to pay for it.
