Warriors hope for big crowds to support Eden Park move

The Warriors are hoping for three crowds of more than 20,000 to support its poised long-term move to Eden Park.

The Kiwi club is trialing the more central venue, by holding its first three home games at Eden Park this season.

With the club's contract at Mount Smart up in 2018, chief executive Wayne Scurrah says they need to eventually be at one home base.

"To em there appears to be two clear options. One is Eden Park works, and it works as is pretty well.

"And the other one is we remain, for the longer term, at Mount Smart and we talk to the council about what needs to be done to bring the stadium up to scratch."

Wayne Scurrah says 10,000 tickets have already sold for next weekend's match against the Dragons at Eden Park, around half of their target for the match.

Scurrah says a victory in tonight's match against the Eels would influence a strong crowd next weekend.

"We've averaged 35,000 people there, for one-off games, and we're not going to do that for playing three or more games there. So winning is going to be a big part of it working for Eden Park as well."
