I wonder if they'll change the name of Port Moresby Rugby League's venue from Lloyd Robson Oval after the renovations? For those who don't know, Lloyd Robson was the original groundsman at the Boroko field when it was opened. A lovely unassuming bloke who was humbled by such an honour. He retired to his home town of Toowoomba.
Forgot to add that the field opened in the late 50's after they had originally played at the 'triangle' near the Aviat Club at Konedobu starting in '49 where Sir Hubert Murray Stadium is now. My dad who flew fighters out of there during WW2 said he played on the old airfield in between flying missions just about where the current airport is.
