Cronulla Sharks chew up sorry Warriors

Under fire and under investigation they may be but Cronulla showed little to suggest they're a club in crisis with a comfortable 28-4 win over a feeble Warriors side on Sunday.

Coach Shane Flanagan was back at the helm following a two-week absence having been stood down by the NRL club in light of the probe by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA).

Flanagan was restored to his position last Friday and his side gave him the best possible welcome home present with a dominant display that produced five tries.

The defeat was the 11th straight for the Warriors, stretching back to round 18 last year, and they looked a shadow of the side that reached the grand final two seasons ago.

Veteran utility John Morris broke the deadlock after 10 minutes on a baking hot day in Sydney, breaking the line to race under the posts with Michael Gordon adding the extras.

Kevin Locke and Shaun Johnson found touch with two fine 40-20s for the Warriors, but the visitors proceeded to then cough up the ball on the first tackle of the subsequent sets.

The Sharks took advantage of the reprieve to double their advantage when Morris found Gordon in support and the fullback scampered underneath the posts before kicking the conversion.

Matthew Elliott's side continued to labour in attack as the errors stacked up and it was no surprise when the Sharks went over again just before halftime when winger Beau Ryan hauled in Todd Carney's crossfield kick.

It was the third straight game that the Warriors have failed to trouble the scorers in the first half this season.

The second half followed a similar pattern as the Warriors struggled in the heat and humidity and conceded a fourth try just five minutes after the restart.

It was scored in fine style by giant prop Sam Tagataese who ran onto a Jayson Bukuya offload, then showed great footwork to sidestep Johnson and race to the line.

Jeff Robson then added a fifth try for the Sharks shortly after Pita Godinet lost control of the ball to cancel out what would have been his side's first points of the game.

There was something to cheer for the visitors when Konrad Hurrell grabbed a late consolation try on a forgettable afternoon for his side.
