Sydney Roosters release Brad Takairangi

The Sydney Roosters have today announced that Brad Takairangi has been granted an early release from his contract to join the Gold Coast Titans on a three-year deal.

Sydney Roosters COO Football, Brian Canavan, said: ?Brad possesses some great talent however with the Titans offering him a longer-term contract, we didn?t want to stand in his way.

?We thank Brad for his contribution to our club and wish him and his young family all the very best for the future.?

Takairangi will join the Titans effective immediately.

Also Roosters had no luck in getting O'Donnell. No surprise! No way Huddersfield would release him.

Some stats - 29 games for the roosters, 1 for the cook islands
20 games off the bench, 6 games at second row, 2 games at centre, 1 at lock.
3 tries, no goals

Is he supposed to be the solution at centre or depth during origin? Seems strange picking up another second rower, when our pack is already overflowing with quality and quantity

Seems to run hard and have a good offload, the offload and drawing opposition players in to the tackle is something i am looking forward to the Titans being better at this year.

I just went looking in the Chookpen to see what their reaction was to this news and while some were philosophical, most were spewing at losing Takairangi. Not sure what we are playing at, recruiting another right sided backrow/centre but this guy has good hands, is quick and can offload. Defence is unproven at NRL level really and I hope he finds our training especially difficult, although the pre-season slog should be well and truly finished by now.

They probably are, but like goose I had a look and most are annoyed they lost taka.

Goose the highlights I found showed him on the left and right. I think he can play either side. We'll know more by the end of the trial I guess.
