Thanks Diehard for the update...one of the areas that the AFL has over the ARL is the transparency with upcoming events such as this...they seem to better organised for the benefit of fans...I am hopeful that this change with ARL Commission becoming more established.

That's right. And they are crafty having a trade period and the draft. All designed to keep the fans and media engaged. Where as you gotta dig for Rugby League info,

NRL should have a list of coming events and even a facebook event for big announcements.

Agreed Diehard...the 2012 season finished just a month ago and true rugby league fans are itching for something to keep them salivating on their love for their team and sport...and instead of having a drip feed of relevant rugby league from untapped talent to experienced player movements we are forced to read unfactual newspaper reports because their is nothing else to talk about.

Building on what Coaster said, we have a massive advantage with our international competition.

But Im left wondering why the Australia vs New Zealand was not on TV in the UK. And back in Oz we can't watch ENG v FRA v WAL. :boo:

Mate they unleashed a 5 year plan today, and new logos across the board, summed up expansion, and a new slogan "The Greatest game of all" lots of positive news in the game today IMO.

I can not wait to see the draw either tbh, but there has been a positive shift in the sport, and i like it

Agreed Coaster! Lots of positive news and moving in the right direction but IMO the 5 Year Plan just highlighted how far we have slipped behind and how much work needs to be done to catch up and move forward.

AFL released their draw today. So hopefully the NRL isn't too far behind and it is laced with innovative fixtures.

I love it. It's been our unofficial slogan for decades, but more word of mouth.

This is a strike back for the AFL using the slogan AUSTRALIA'S GAME.

    NRL draw set for release

The NRL draw is expected to be released late next week at Rugby League Central.

A team of NRL Staff and a specialist Canadian based company regarded as world leaders in sport scheduling, Optimal Planning Solutions, is finalising the complex challenge of scheduling all dates and times for the first 20 rounds of the 2013 season.

?It is an enormous logistical exercise as we match the requests of 16 individual clubs against our contractual obligations, ground availability and the sports market in general,? NRL General Manager of Football Operations, Mr Nathan McGuirk, said today.

?There are 192 individual events to schedule across venues that involve multiple hirers as well as the importance of providing feature Premiership matches and representative games such as State of Origin.

?This is the first time the season will be scheduled in advance and it will give clubs and fans more certainty.

?20 rounds will be scheduled when the draw is released and the remaining six will be scheduled after round 16.

?We are very conscious of the expectation that is building around the draw and believe we will be in a position to release it by late next week.?

NRL.com will be your first place to get the full draw when it is released either Thursday or Friday next week.

Optimal Planning Solutions. Far out! I hope they come up with some innovative ideas to mix up the NRL draw. Lock in those traditional and emerging fixtures and give our game a national foot print. Games in Perth have been a consistent success.
