    Alex Leapai came back into the Souths Logan Magpies HDC side for Week One of the 2023 HDC Finals against the Redcliffe Dolphins with Alex Leapai coming off the bench to operate in the front row in the 22nd minute with Alex Leapai making his initial run in the 25th minute from the left of the play the ball to get the ball thirty five metres away from his own try line.

    The 29th minute then saw Alex Leapai, from the left of the play the dummy half carry the ball from his own forty metre mark to nine metres into Redcliffe territory. Alex Leapai followed up with a run to the left of a Magpies scrum win in the 35th minute from forty five metres from the try line with Alex Leapai able to get the ball fifteen metres downfield from an underneath route and Alex Leapai was then after a penalty for ruck interference.

    Alex Leapai also did well in the 66th minute to get within a metres of the try line after running an underneath route to the right of the dummy half from twelve metres out with a testament to Alex Leapai’s effort was that it took four Blackhawks defenders to stop his forward momentum.

    The match also saw Alex Leapai showcase his kicking skills when in the 30th minute after a Magpies kick that was not played at by Townsville on the final tackle rebounded back to Alex Leapai thirty metres out from try line Alex Leapai picked up the ball on the final tackle ten metres in from the left touchline with Alex Leapai then putting in a left foot kick towards the right corner.

    Bo Peisley started at halfback for the Murwillumbah Mustangs in Round Fifteen of the NRRRL U18 competition against the Tweed Coast Raiders with Bo Peisley kicking three conversions in a Mustangs 30 – 0 victory. Bo Peisley kicked his first conversion in the 4th minute from ten metres to the left of the goal posts. Bo Peisley kicked his second conversion from twelve metres in from the left touchline in the 15th minute before convert Ayden Byrnes’s 25th minute try from directly in front of the goal posts.

    Bo Peisley also recorded a try assist in the 4th minute with a right foot grubber into the in-goal for his five eight to score with Bo Peisley putting in the kick from twelve metres out and to the right of the goal posts with the five eight scoring on the opposite side of the uprights.

    Micah Leaupepe Perkins started at left centre for the Tweed Heads Seagulls in Round Fifteen of the NRRRL U18 competition against the Ballina Seagulls with Micah Leaupepe Perkins scoring in the 10th minute with a ten metre run three passes to the left of the play the ball with Micah Leaupepe Perkins easily beating his opposing centre with a right arm fend to score in the left corner.

    Micah Leaupepe Perkins was in fact the reason that Tweed Heads were in an attacking position when in the 9th minute from nine metres out from his own try line and ten metres in from the left touchline, Micah Leaupepe Perkins picked the ball up from dummy and ran to his left to make a line break down the left touchline, getting to within twenty metres of the try line before the Ballina fullback threatened to tackle him into touch but Micah Leaupepe Perkins was able to flick the ball back inside for Tweed Heads to retain possession.

    Micah Leaupepe Perkins also recorded a line break in the 22nd minute when whilst operating at fullback Micah Leaupepe Perkins took a Ballina kick on the full twenty two metres out from his own try line near the centre of the field, Micah Leaupepe Perkins ran to his right and after breaking a staggering seven tackles through speed, strength and power Micah Leaupepe Perkins carried the ball all the way down to within thirty three metres of the try line.

    2023 saw Sunee Wharekawa Poa line up for Cudgen Gold in the Group 18 U13 competition with Sunee Wharekawa Poa starting at lock and captain in the Grand Final against the Tweed Heads Seagulls.

    2023 also saw Sunee Wharekawa Poa play in the U13 Country Cup for Kingscliff High School.

    Round Fifteen of the NRRRL U18 competition for the Lower Clarence Magpies against the Kyogle Turkeys saw Tyrelle Waters start from the bench and play on the left wing after coming onto the field in the 21st minute.

    In the 36th minute after running onto the ball to the left of the dummy half near the right touchline, Tyrelle Waters continued to run the ball to his left from twelve metres out from his own try line out to the thirty metre mark. Then in the 44th minute from the left of the play the ball Tyrelle Waters carried the ball from twenty three metres out from his own try line to thirty eight metres out.

    Tyrelle Waters also pulled off an impressive try saving tackle in the 27th minute on the last tackle in the Kyogle right second rower (No. 11) in front of the posts and just two metres out from the try line.

    In late September 2023 Elliott Farrell was named in the 2024 Northern Rivers Titans U18 Laurie Daley Cup squad.

    In 2023 Elliott Farrell played for the Byron Bay Devils in the NRRRL competition at right centre and also played for Byron Bay Lennox Head in the Group 18 U16 competition including starting in the centres in their Grand Final victory.

    Toby Britton started all bar one of the Souths Magpies BJRL U14 Division One matches at hooker (missing Round One) including the Grand Final against Logan Brothers and whilst Toby Britton only scored the one try which came in Round 14 against Waterford Toby Britton was a key reason for the Magpies success of the 2023 season.

    Well done to the Titans U16 side that defeated the Balmain Tigers in the annual U16 Anthony Laffranchi Cup with a last minute try.

    The future continues to be very bright for the Titans and the incredible JTS program.

    In late September 2023 Tweed Heads Seagulls Thomas Whitton was named in the 2024 Northern Rivers Titans U16 Andrew Johns Cup squad.

    In 2023 Thomas Whitton was named in the North Coast School Boy U15 Representative side out of Banora Point High School.

    Aaron Singh-Goesel started at left second row for the Murwillumbah Mustangs in Round Fifteen of the NRRRL U18 competition against the Tweed Coast Raiders with Aaron Singh-Goesel recording a try assist in the 52nd minute when from the left of a Mustangs scrum win, Aaron Singh-Goesel ran the ball to within ten metres of the halfway mark before drawing the Tweed Coast right centre and passing to his left to put his left centre into a gap and away downfield to score.

    Aaron Singh-Goesel also recorded a line break assist in the 21st minute when after receiving the ball two passes to the left of the play the ball Aaron Singh-Goesel ran the ball from eighteen metres out from his own try line to twenty six metres out before off-loading to his left to put his centre on a long run down the left touchline.

    In the 25th minute Aaron Singh-Goesel ran an underneath route to the left of the play the ball to run the ball through the centre of the field from thirty three metres from the try line to with sixteen metres. The 37th minute then saw Aaron Singh-Goesel run another underneath line to the left of the dummy half to progress the ball from ten metres inside his own territory to nine metres into Raider territory.

    The 44th minute saw Aaron Singh-Goesel carry the ball from the left of a Mustangs scrum win to get the ball to the halfway mark after receiving the ball thirty four metres out from his own try line.

    Seth Nikotemo continued at right second row for Burleigh in Round Fifteen of the GCRL First Grade competition against the Tugun Seahawks with Seth Nikotemo coming close to scoring in the 5th minute from a Burleigh penalty restart with Seth Nikotemo able to get within a metre of the try line twelve metres in from the right touchline after starting his run from twelve metres out.

    Seth Nikotemo also came close to scoring in the 68th minute when after picking up a ball lost backwards by Burleigh fourteen metres out and near the right touchline, Seth Nikotemo ran the ball infield and after breaking two tackles Seth Nikotemo was able to get the ball to within a try line mid-way between the goal posts and corner post on the right side of the field.

    The 12th minute then saw Seth Nikotemo run onto the ball from two passes to the right of a Bears penalty restart to get the ball from twenty one metres from the try line to within ten metres. Then in the 20th minute from two passes to the right of the play the ball Seth Nikotemo was able to progress the ball from forty one metres from the try lien to twenty nine metres out.

    Then in the 60th minute from two passes to the right of a Burleigh penalty restart on the halfway mark Seth Nikotemo was able to promote the ball sixteen metres into Tugun territory.

    In late September 2023 Klay Jones was named in the 2024 Northern Rivers Titans U16 Andrew Johns Cup Academy Squad.

    In 2023 Klay Jones started for the Mullumbimby Giants at lock and captain in the Group 18 U15 Grand Final against Byron Bay Lennox Head and at the completion of the 2023 season Klay Jones was named the 2023 Mullumbimby Colts International Player of the Year and also received the 2023 Group 18 U15 Colts Coaches Award.
