After missing a number of rounds, including some that were washed out Kaleb Hope started at five eight for the Lower Clarence Magpies in Round Nine of the NRRRL U18 competition against Casino RSM, with Kaleb Hope having a big match scoring a hat trick.

Kaleb Hope scored his opening try in the 24th minute when Kalbe Hope moved into dummy half with the play the ball just to the right of the uprights and around thirteen metres out. After Kaleb Hope took possession he dummied to this right and before running himself, getting through a big hole in the defensive line to put the ball down adjacent to the right upright.

Kaleb Hope scored his second try in the 45th minute when with the play the ball right on the right touchline Kaleb Hope lined up as the first receiver but the pass from the dummy half forced Kaleb Hope to turn and run back to twenty metres from the try line to collect the ball. From there Kaleb Hope produced a wicked left foot step to beat the initial defender before showing elite speed to beat a number of other defenders and get the ball down mid-way between the goal posts and corner post on the right side of the field.

Kaleb Hope completed his hat trick in the 57th minute and it was certainly worth the wait. Kaleb Hope was defending in the centre of the field and twenty metres out from his own try line when the Casino RSM halfback attempted to put a chip kick over his head but Kaleb Hope jumped high and took the kick in his outstretched right hand and as soon as his feet hit the ground Kaleb Hope raced eighty metres to score under the posts.

Kaleb Hope also threw the final pass late in the second half for replacement front rower Toby Austin to crash over mid-way between the corner post and goal posts on the left side of the field. From around ten metres from the line Kaleb Hope took the ball to the defensive line before throwing an inside ball to Toby Austin who barged his was over much to the delight of his team mates.

It was just one of those match where everything that Kaleb Hope touched turned to gold, including in the 38th minute when his kick-off could not be handled by Casino RSM with the ball bouncing dead in-goal to force a goal line drop-out.

Great first up win for Nelson Makaafi and his Qld Maroon team mates, one of which was fellow PBC SHS student Kaleb Smith who started from the bench but can on meid-way through the first half to operate at lock.

The Tweed Heads Seagulls U18 NRRRL side this season is an exciting group with a few Titans contracted players such as Riley Buchanan and Zane Harrison with a lot of the side being still U16.

One player who has stood out to "protect" his younger team mates is front rower Jye Brady and he took on a big Kyogle Turkeys pack late yesterday afternoon and in a very physical encounter gave more than what he got to lead the Seagulls to a strong 26-6 victory.

For the Tweed Heads Seagulls U18 NRRRL side Jye Brady started in the front row in Round Ten against the Kyogle Turkeys and along with Riley Buchanan made the second tackle of the match after the Seagulls had kicked off. Then Jye Brady made a strong charge from the kick-off to get the second half underway with Jye Brady making right through the centre to the oncoming Turkey’s defensive line with Jye Brady’s run only coming to an end when he was tripped up from behind on the halfway mark.

Jye Brady made a further strong tackle in the 38th minute when he raced to his left to smash his opposite number just ten metres out from the try line and directly in front of the posts. Jye Brady followed that up with another big front-on tackle in the 45th minute.

Against the Mullumbimby Giants in Round Ten of the NRRRL First Grade competition for the Kyogle Turkeys Layne Hardy scored a try and recorded a try assist within the opening ten minutes.

Layne Hardy scored in the 8th minute of the match when after taking possession on the second bounce from his right from the dummy half around seven metres out, Layne Hardy ran to his left and was able to slide between two defenders to score five metres in from the left corner post.

Layne Hardy’s try assist came even earlier in the match than his try when in the 5th minute Layne Hardy received the ball from the dummy half five metres out and five metres from the left touchline and took the ball to the line before putting in a short right foot grubber kick which after rebounding around against multiple Turkeys and Giants feet was picked up by the Kyogle left winger who dived over to score just in from the left corner post.

Even though he was wearing jersey No. 19 Te Iri Mokaraka started at left centre for Queensland White in their opening match of the U15 ASSRL Championships before spending time at right centre in the second half.

Late in the second half Te Iri Mokaraka moved back to left centre and that is from where Te Iri Mokaraka scored a key try of Queensland in their 22 all draw when after receiving the ball twenty two metres out Te Iri Mokaraka initially charged down the left touchline before cutting inside off his left foot with Te Iri Mokaraka taking on the NSW CIS fullback with Te Iri Mokaraka able to get over the top of the fullback to get the ball down five metres in from the left corner post.

He may have been on the losing side but Ormeau Shearers second rower/front rower Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga was simply outstanding against Burleigh on the weekend against Burleigh in the GCRL U18 Division One competition.

Both both attack and defense the powerful young man was outstanding in the wet and heavy conditions and he is certainly one young player I will be keeping a keen one on.

For the Tweed Heads Seagulls U18 NRRRL side Creedence Donovan started at fullback in Round Ten against the Kyogle Turkeys with Creedence Donovan scoring a double to continue as the competition’s leading try scorer.

The first of Creedence Donovan’s two tries came in the 8th minute when Creedence Donovan chased through a Zane Harrison kick to score mid-way between the goal posts and corner post on the right side of the field.

Creedence Donovan completed his double in the 48th minute and what a spectacular try it was. Kyogle were on the attack just four metres out and directly in front of the posts when the Turkeys dummy half knocked the ball on when he was attempting to pick the ball up, Creedence Donovan swooped on the ball and raced ninety seven metres to score under the posts.

As a result of his performance for South Coast, at the conclusion of the Championships Titans contracted Luke Jones was named in the 2022 QSSRL U15 White School Boy Representative side and started Match One of the ASSRL U15 Championships from the bench for Queensland White against NSW CIS.

After coming onto the field mid-way through the first half to operate at left second row, Luke Jones scored in the 28th minute when he fought his way over from five metres out down a short left blindside to get the ball down five metres in from the left corner.

Luke Jones also did well defensively on multiple plays between the 32nd and 34th minutes when NSW CIS were constantly attacking Luke Jones side of the field with Luke Jones coming up with multiple tackles on his own goal line.
