    Good sse former St Mary's College Toowoomba 2021 Langer Cup fullback Preston Brown named to start at fullback for the Runaway Bay Seagulls GCRL U20 side for this weekend's Round Eight against the Ormeau Shearers.

    The exciting talent has also played representative level rugby at No. 10 being fly half.

    After missing a fair bit of time it is great to see Reef Sommerville named at right centre for the Cudgen Hornets NRRRL First Grade side for this weekend's Round Six match against the Evans Head Bombers.

    Earlier this week Titans contracted Dallas Ingram represented the South Coast School Boy side at the U15 QSSRL School Boy Championships starting Match One against Northern at halfback with Dallas Ingram making a 10th minute line break when after receiving the ball on the left around thirty five metres out broke through the Northern defensive line to get the ball within eleven metres of the try line before he was stopped.

    Dallas Ingram recorded another line break in the 15th minute when he dummied to his left down a short blindside around twenty five metres out and burst through the defensive line getting to three metres from the line. Dallas Ingram was back to his feet in a heartbeat after being tackled with South Coast scoring in the left corner with the Northern defence still in disarray.

    In the 46th minute Dallas Ingram recorded a try assist when after receiving the ball from his right off the dummy half Dallas Ingram took the ball into the defensive line before throwing a great inside pass to his lock who was able to score next to the left upright.

    In the 39th minute Dallas Ingram recorded a line break assist when whilst just inside his own territory Dallas Ingram ran to his left and brought centre Joseph Tupuse underneath with the left centre able to find a gap as a result.

    Dallas Ingram also started at halfback in Match Two against Met North.

    As a result of his performance for South Coast, at the conclusion of the Championships Dallas Ingram was named in the 2022 QSSRL U15 White School Boy Representative side.

    He is only very young but one name to note down for the future is Coomera Cutters Junior Rugby League lock Alex Ruiz, the young man has an outstanding tackling technique.

    Will Saunders had a huge match on the weekend for Currumbin in Round Eight of the GCRL U18 Division One competition against the Runaway Bay Seagulls scoring a double after starting the match at hooker.

    The first of Will Saunders two tries came in the 22nd minute when after the Seagulls attempted a short kick-off Will Saunders received an off-load and burst through a gap to run thirty five metres to score ten metres to the right of the uprights.

    Will Saunders completed his double in the 27th minute when he ran out of dummy half to his left from just thirty five metres out from his own try line going straight through the centre of the defence before stepping off his right foot to beat the fullback with Will Saunders then racing away to score under the posts.

    In fact Will Saunders could easily have scored a hat trick when in the 34th minute when after receiving an off-load around twenty metres out Will Saunders ran to his left before straightening up and going straight through a gap. Will Saunders actually crossed the try line but when was in the in-goal under the posts he passed the ball to one of his team mates in an act of selflessness.

    Will Saunder also recorded a 24th minute try assist when after running out of dummy half to his right from thirty metres out from his own line Will Saunders went straight through the centre of the Seagulls defensive line before drawing the Runaway Bay fullback and passing to his right to Jake Lateo who raced away to score under the posts.

    Bilambil’s Will Taylor started at lock in Round Six of the U18 NRRRL competition against Casino RSM and scored in the 333rd minute when from thirteen metres out Will Taylor stepped his way past a number of Kyogle defenders to score adjacent to the left upright.

    Will Taylor made his presence felt in the opening minute when whilst taking the third hit-up of the match Will Taylor from the left of the play the ball and twenty five metres from hbis own line Will Taylor burst through the RSM defensive line and after drawing the fullback passed to his left to put his hooker away to score under the posts.

    Will Taylor recorded a second try assist in the 47th minute when after receiving the ball to the left of the play the ball Will Taylor was able to get halfway through the defensive line and then got away a left arm off-load to put his hooker away to score. Will Taylor then took the hit-up from the resultant kick-off making twenty five metres.

    Will Taylor also did well in the 6th minute when after picking up a Turkeys dropped ball six metres out from the line Will Taylor was able to get the ball twenty metres away from the Jets line before he was taken to ground.

    Will Taylor made another strong run in the 26th minute when from a Jets penalty tap restart Will Taylor was able to fifteen metres after taking possession twenty metres out from his own try line. Just four minutes later in the 30th minute Will Taylor was at it again on that occasion making twenty metres from twenty five metres out from his own try line, breaking two tackles along the way.

    ON Sunday Titans contracted Wailer Whaiapu started at lock for Burleigh in Round Eight of the GCRL U18 competition against the Southport Tigers and celebrated his first match of the season for the Bears by scoring in the 57th minute when after receiving the ball from his left from the dummy half Wailer Whaiapu charged over five metres to the right of the uprights.

    Wailer Whaiapu executed a great defensive play in the 20th minute when after packing in at lock in a scrum with a Tigers feed thirty metres out from their line, the Tigers made a line break initially down their left touchline before cutting back inside. It looked as if Southport would run away to score but Wailer Shaiapu had broken from the scrum and charged back in cover defence and was able to cath the Tigers left winger from behind after racing forty metres to make the tackle.

    On the weekend for Tweed Colts Charlie Murray started at lock in the rescheduled Round One match against the Norths Devils with Charlie Murray taking the fourth hit-up of the match.

    Charlie Murray recorded a try assist in the 41st minute when from near halfway Charlie Murray charged onto the ball to the left of the play the ball and after breaking three tackles drew the fullback and passed to his left to Jaylan De Groot who raced away to score under the goal posts.

    The 13th minute saw Charlie Murray record a line break assist when after picking up a Norths dropped just inside Seagulls territory Charlie Murray ran to his left and got Brent Barnes to cut back inside with Brent Barnes breaking the defensive line and making thirty metres and breaking three tackles.

    Murwullimbah’s Matthew Bollard started at right centre in Round Six of the U18 NRRRL competition on the weekend against the Kyogle Turkeys with Matthew Bollard scoring a double for the second round in a row. After starting the match at right centre Matthew Bollard played the second half at fullback.

    Matthew Bollards first try came in the 43rd minute when he received a good long pass from his right from his five eight to score mid-way between the goal posts and corner post on the left side of the field.

    Matthew Bollard added his second try in the 59th minute when whilst operating at fullback Matthew Bollard came forward to take a Turkey’s clearing kick on the full forty metres out from his own line. Immediately upon taking possession Matthew Bollard ran to his left and sliced between two defenders near the halfway mark. From there Matthew Bollard had too much speed for the cover defence and raced away to score five metres in from the left corner post.

    On the weekend for Tweed Colts, Titans contracted Klese Haas also started at left second row in the rescheduled Round One match against the Norths Devils with Klese Haas scoring in the 59th minute when he chased through a Thomas Weaver grubber kick into the in-goal with the ball sitting up for Klese Haas to score mid-way between the goal posts and corner post on the left side of the field.
