In last weekend’s 2021 Gold Coast Rugby League U18 Division One Grand Final, Taniela Mapausua-Lotaki started at right centre for the Roosters against the Helensvale Hornets and scored in Nerang’s 44 – 12 Premiership success.

Taniela Mapausua-Lotaki’s try came in the 10th minute when from twenty two metres out Taniela Mapusua-Lotaki charged into a big gap off a Josh Lynn pass with the powerhouse centre putting the ball down ten metres in from the left corner post.

Taniela Mapausua-Lotaki also made a strong run in the 19th minute with a ten metre effort to the right of a Nerang scrum win to get the ball thirty metres out from his own try line. Taniela Mapausua-Lotaki made a further strong run in the 55th minute from a Nerang tap restart after a penalty. Probably Taniela Mapausua-Lotaki’s best moment in the Grand Final came in the 57th minute and it was the defensive highlight of the match. Even though the match was well and truly won Taniela Mapausua-Lotaki did not rest on his laurels when Helensvale put in a kick to their right wing. The Helensvale winger took possession on the try line but as he was trying to get the ball to ground Taniela Mapausua-Lotaki got to him, holding him up and driving him five metres into touch in-goal.

In the 2021 Gold Coast Rugby League U18 Division One Grand Final on Saturday, Titans contracted Jeremaiah Temapo started on the left wing for the Roosters against the Helensvale Hornets with Jeremaiah Temapo scoring twice in a three minute span in the second half as Nerang won the Premiership 44 – 12 after being down 12 – 10 at half time.

Jeremaiah Temapo’’s first try came in the 39th minute when he backed up a long break by Delahia Wigmore. Jeremaiah Temapo received the ball from Delahia Wigmore thirty metres out from the line and raced down the left touchline and with cover defence coming across Jeremaiah Temapo dived full length putting the ball down with his left arm to score very close to the left corner post.

Just three minutes later in the 42nd minute Jeremaiah Temapo scored his second try when once again he dived over in the left corner after once again backing up a Delahia Wigmore line break. On this occasion Jeremaiah Temapo had less work to do after receiving the ball around ten metres out and had an uninterrupted run to the line to put the ball down five metres in from the left corner post.

Jeremaiah Temapo was also heavily involved in Delahia Wigmore’s 6th minute try when from deep inside his own twenty metre area, Jeremaiah Temapo was able to get away a great left arm off-load when in contact with three Hornets defenders with Delahia Wigmore the beneficiary of Jeremaiah Temapo’s great off-load to race eighty metres down the left touchline to score wide out on the left side of the field.

Jeremaiah Temapo continued his strong Grand Final in the 54th minute when he received the ball on the halfway on the left touchline after a Roosters scrum move on the opposite side of the field. After beating three defenders and making fifteen metres it took four Helensvale defenders to eventually stop Jeremaiah Temapo’s momentum and he was subsequently awarded a penalty when he was not allowed to play the ball in a timely fashion.

Then in the 57th minute Jeremaiah Temapo just continued to make ground when from a twenty metre tap restart he made fifteen metres to get Nerang immediately on the front foot after a Helensvale attacking went dead in goal.

Jeremaiah Temapo’s initial contribution to the Roosters victory came in just the 3rd minute with a strong ten metre hit-up off his own try line. Jeremaiah Temapo made another strong run in the 30th minute making ten metres to work the ball out of his own twenty metre area.

In the 2021 Gold Coast Rugby League U18 Division One Grand Final on Saturday Titans contracted Immanuel Kalekale started in the front row for the Roosters side against the Helensvale Hornets and had an immediate impact on the match when he took the second hit-up of the match, breaking three tackles and making twenty metres to get the ball out to thirty five metres from his own line. Then in the 3rd minute, Immanuel Kalekale produced another strong run through the centre of the field, making ten metres to get the ball twenty metres out from his own line.

Immanuel Kalekale emphasised his strong first half in the final minute of the first half when after receiving an off-load from Dorian Mapusua-Lotaki, Immanuel Kalekale broke four tackles whilst making fifteen metres to get the ball into Helensvale territory.

Immanuel Kalekale continued his strong match in the 34th minute with a twenty metre charge that included breaking three tackles with the result being that Immanuel Kalekale was able to get the ball to within ten metres of the try line.

Immanuel Kalekale’s Grand Final performance deserved a try and he should have been awarded one in the 47th minute when he charged onto the ball to the right of the dummy half fifty five metres from the try line. After receipt of the ball Immanuel Kalekale immediately stepped off his left foot targeting the area directly behind the play the ball and going straight through the centre of the ruck untouched. When he approached the Hornets fullback, Immanuel Kalekale looked to beat him by rounding him to his right.

Immanuel Kalekale was eventually dragged down from behind just short of the try line and it looked for all money as if momentum had carried Immanuel Kalekale over the try line five metres in from the touchline but bizarrely the referee ruled a double movement much to the confusion of all of the players on the field, including the Helensvale players that had made the tackle.
