Great to see the Titans formalise a partnership with Marsden State High School. Well done Titans.

Interesting development. If I remember correctly Marsden have been with Brisbane for the last few years after long term agreements with Canberra.
Good to see (even if it was a Brennan thing) we are buying back the farm!

mdrew, do you know what the deal involves? As we know kids are free to sign up with any club from a young age, regardless of what school they go to. Maybe they plan to hold coaching clinics with the kids and offer titans game tickets, etc to get them supporting the titans prior to the kids reaching the contract age. This may influence their decision when crunch time comes. The only problem I see is that these schools are most active at recruiting from senior school which would mean that most talented kids already have a contract with an NRL team. What are your thoughts on the benefits to recruitment with this deal?

As a general rule the club helps support the schools programs and coaches. It doesn't give the club 100% unfettered access to the kids, cos as you say many are in NRL squads prior to attending the school.
It also gives the club the ability to place kids from out of the area in to the school, example is Tom Weaver at PBC, which allows the kids to develop in a high level school system and also brings them closer to the actual club for the Titans programs.
Depending on the level of hands on involvement at the school as well it allows the club to talent spot kids that may not have been identified yet. I saw this happen with a few boys while my son was at PBC.
You also find that kids that may be in another program change to the Titans over the course of their schooling, partly due to the exposure to the club at school and also due to there friends and team mates feedback. Will Evans (Broncos) and Toby Sexton (Bulldogs) are good examples of this.
I'm sure mdrew may have something to add, but thats just some feed back based on my experiences with PBC.

Spot on JA4220, the only thing that I will add is that the partnerships mean that the coaching staffs will be a lot closer aligned and thus Titans staff will be at training and trials and thus will get a more extensive look at players before other clubs.

The three best rugby league schools in SEQ and three of the four best in Queensland are now in partnership with the Titans, in all of the school boy competition finals in 2020 from Year 7 to the Opens it was Keebra/PBC/Marsden playing each other. A scary situation for EVERY other NRL club.

In modern rugby league big strong powerful wingers are a critical reason for success and Burleigh will have one on the wing in their MM Cup trial against Easts on Saturday in Titans contracted Keebra Park student Jeremaiah Tamepo.

The Easts Tigers forward pack are going to have a few bumps and bruises after their Saturday night MM Cup trial against Burleigh with Titans contracted Joseph Shannon starting in the front row.

Describing Joseph Shannon as big strong powerful and aggressive is an understatement.
