Titans linked Coby Black had an outstanding match in Round Five of the school boy Hancock Cup competition for Coombabah State High School on Tuesday afternoon against Marsden State High School, kicking two conversions from four attempts, with his two misses being from the right touchline. Coby Black also had a try assist in the match, was heavily involved in another and also produced an outstanding individual play that saved a try.

Coby Black’s ty assist came in the first half when he was operating on the right side of the field. Immediately upon receiving the ball Coby Black took the line one, popping his body partly through the tackle getting his left arm free and off-loading to his right second rower who charged to line to score. Coby Black was also heavily involved in Coombabah’s final try when he threw a long cut out pass to his left to his fullback in space who was able to get the ball to his left winger who dived over in the left corner.

Coby Black’s outstanding piece of play came in the second half. Titans contracted William Semu made a long break down the left of the field and was in the process of being the ball around to put it down closer to the posts. Coby Black did not give up on the play and flew in to confront Semu. Even though William Semu braced himself for the contact, the strength of Coby Black’s hit, and his timing forced the ball lose, saving the try for Coombabah State High School.

Titans contracted Jahream Bula’s Round Five Langer Cup match yesterday afternoon when he started at left centre away to St Mary’s Toowoomba scoring a second half double and also recording a first half try assist.

Jahream Bula’s first try was a result of pure strength and desire to score. Off the back of a scrum ten metres out from the St Mary’s line, Jahream Bula received the abll surrounded by three defenders who all engagaed him at the same time. Jahream Bula continued to fight the tackle and pump his legs and dragged the defenders five metres before crashing over around ten metres from the left corner post.

Jahream Bula’s second try result from him chasing through a Keebra Park attacking kick. Connor Te Kani ran parallel to the defensive line to the left of the field and put in a right foot grubber kick which sat up perfectly for Jahream Bula to take the ball above his head around a metre from the try line and surge over to score near the left up right.

Jahream Bula’s try assist came when he broke into space down the left side of the field from around fifity metres out, Jahream Bula came back inside slightly to give his winger more room and drew the St Mary’s fullback before passing to his winger who had a straight and easy fifteen run to the try line to score in the left corner.

Titans contracted Seth Nikotemo’s Round Five against St Mary’s Toowoomba yesterday afternoon starting from the bench, playing on the right when he came on and scored a try in each half in an outstanding performance.

Seth Nikotemo’s first try was as a result of an outstanding straight power run from ten metres out. Connor Te Kani was operating on the right and received the ball two passes off the ruck and ran the ball paralell to the defensive line and threw a short no look pass to a straight running Seth Niketemo who went straight through a gap to score from ten metres out.

Seth Nikotemo’s second try came late in the match once again down the right side of the field. On the last tackle, Blake Scott took the ball down a short blind side, off loading to Seth Nikotemo who was standing still at the time, he was able to step off his right foot but was held by one leg but Seth Nikotemo was able to reach out and put the ball down with his right arm to score a much deserved double.

Titans contracted Thomas Weaver continued at half back in Round Five of the Langer Cup match against Marsden State High School yesterday afternoon, kicking four conversions from five attempts, including an outstanding first half effort from the left touch line, with his only miss in the second half also from the left touch line. To be fair the miss only barely missed.

Thomas Weaver also recorded two try assists which where for all intents and purposes identical, with one coming in each half. On both occasions, Thomas Weaver received the ball on the left side of the field, running at the ball to engage the defenders before throwing a long cut out pass to his left to Diane Mariner both both occasions to score in the left corner. The key to both tries was that Thomas Weaver looked to take the line on and thus hold the defenders in place and not just slide to cover the outside support runners.
