Burleigh U18 Division Two front rower Izack Smith has been selected in the 2020 Burleigh MM Cup squad after a 2019 season that saw him play in four U18 Division Two matches with him kicking a conversion against Robina and one match against Runaway Bay in the U18 Division One competition.
Helensvale lock Jay Blazek has deservedly been selected in the 2020 Burleigh MM Cup squad after playing this season in the U16 Division One competition. In that competition he scored three tries in twelve games including a finals double against Burleigh and he also scored in Round Fourteen against Runaway Bay.
Front rower Jotham Russell has been selected in the 2020 Burleigh MM Cup squad after playing this season in the U16 Division One competition for the Currumbin Eagles.
Jotham Russell finished this season with a 50% strike rate with his tries coming against Burleigh, Mudgeeraba, Southport and Coomera.
Outside back Kalani Skipps who played for the TSS 2nd XV in the GPS school boy rugby competition this season has been named in the 2020 Burleigh MM Cup squad.
Good to see Connor Te Kani named in the 2020 Burleigh MM Cup squad. This season Connor Te Kani played No. 10 for Brisbane Grammar School in the GPS First XV competition, kicking a number of conversions.
In addition to his First XV duties for Brisbane Grammar School Connor Te Kani played for Coomera in the GCRL U16 Division One competition including starting at five eight and kicking four from four in Coomera’s gut wrenching 22-20 golden point loss to Ormeau.
Including the finals series, Connor Te Kani played in thirteen matches for Ormeau scoring 73 points to finish third on the competitions points scoring list.
His 73 points included a field goal against Ormeau in Round Two and tries against Ormeau in Round Twoas well , Helensvale and Burleigh in Week two of the finals.
With the boot he kicked six in Week Two of the finals against Burleigh (he also scored in their 48 – 0 win) and also kicked five mid-season against Helensvale, scoring also in that match.
Titans linked Xavier Atoa was part of the Stretton State College Year 7/8 touch side that became National Champions with a 10 to 4 over Mercy College earlier this week.

Last Friday night Juwan Compain was awarded the 2019 Tweed Heads Seagulls MM Cup Coaches Award.
Titan Ben Thomas was named Tweed Heads Colts Players Player of 2019.
Toby Sexton is currently in camp with the Australian School Boys side preparing for their match on Sunday against NZ U19’s.
Southport Tigers second rower Ao Terangi Manihera has had a busy couple of weeks, including starting from the bench and scoring for Southport in their GCRL U18 Division One Grand Final loss to Burleigh and his subsequent selection in the 2020 Burleigh MM Cup squad.
In addition to his Grand Final try he also scored mid-season against Mudgeeraba to finish with two tries from his thirteen U18 Division One matches.
For me one of the best players on the field in the GCRL U18 Division One Grand Final was Burleigh hooker Lachlan Adamson, he just stood out, it is as simple as that.
Subsequently the former Queensland U16 hooker has been selected in the 2020 Burleigh MM Cup squad after playing in eleven U18 Division One matches with his sole try coming midseason against Grand Final opponents Southport.
Burleigh front rower Loghan Lewis had an interrupted 2019 season playing only two games for Burleigh in the U18 Division One competition, being Round 11 against Runaway Bay when he kicked a conversion and Round 12 when he scored against Helensvale.
Last week however he was selected in the Burleigh 2020 MM Cup squad.
