I think that the development of the relationship with Keebra Park is equal in importance to any decision the Titans have made in recent years.
The Titans currently have outstanding links to PBC (Ediq Ambrosyev, Toby Sexton, Caleb Hodges, Bailey Martin etc), Coombabah SHS (Joseph Shannon, Kobie Mackay-Taylor, Nicholas Hilton, Arama Hau etc) and Ballina Coast High School in Northern NSW (Rowan Mansfield, Reshawn Anderson etc) but adding Keebra Park into the mix is a huge step forward.
Keebra Park attracts players from all over Australian and New Zealand to the school and with the Keebra Park coaches actively working with Jamie McCormack to bring the right players into our TEDS program the future is even brighter. Obviously that does not stop the Broncos from nabbing players but it will be harder for them but the earlier that Keebra Park and the Titans can get them into the TEDS program the better the chance that they will stay at the Titans when other clubs come calling.
I should note however that the Titans have had success in signing players straight out of school from Keebra Park in the past, the most notable being AJ and Mo and also Jamie McCormack has also snared current students such as Seth Nikotemo and Te Haeta Takamore amongst others. Then of course there is the come home factor which has assisted the Titans signing Jai Arrow and Tannah Boyd.
In recent seasons Keebra Park has attracted a lot of talented players from Ipswich and New Zealand (Terry-Jack Smart this season) and recently also Northern NSW with the likes of Thomas Vickery, Kade Hill and the exceptionally talented Lachlan West also moving this season.
Jamie McCormack now has a bigger pool of players to develop which he has proved that he can do, and do quickly.
The Titans TEDS staff will also continue to work closely with PBC etc, they will not let the association with those schools to drop off either, they are far too smart for that to occur.
I encourage every rugby league supporter on the Gold Coast next season to go and watch a derby match between PBC and Keebra, the crowd which has been in excess of 5 000 in the past and atmosphere is amazing as is of course the standard of play as the young men represent their school.
