Great to see Tahne Robinson captaining the Tweed Colts side this week against Mackay.

He is an absolute class act who has had a great first season in the Colts competition.

Very interesting to see Richardo Evanis named on the bench for the Souths Logan Colts side this weekend in Round 19 against the Northern Pride.

He had a solid MM Cup season with Burleigh earlier this year as a Titans contracted player.

He actually made his Colts debut in Round 17.

    SAVAGE BLOW FOR TITANS

THE Titans’ nursery is under siege with the Raiders the latest NRL rival to raid the Gold Coast region after poaching a Palm Beach Currumbin sensation who has similar speed to Storm star Josh Addo-Carr.

In a blow for the Titans, Canberra have swooped on 17-year-old speed machine Xavier Savage, a PBC flyer who is one of the fastest teenagers in the country.

Savage is also a sprinting sensation who won the 100m Queensland junior athletics championships last year in a time of 10.95sec – almost as quick as Addo-Carr, who has been clocked at 10.6sec.

A Cairns product, Savage helped the Queensland schoolboys to their first national title in 10 years last week, scoring six tries in four games – prompting Canberra to secure him to a two-and-a-half year contract.

Titans culture chief Mal Meninga is determined to stop a talent drain on the Gold Coast and the loss of Savage, who will join the Raiders this summer for pre-season, is a huge blow.

Former Broncos winger and sprint sensation Denan Kemp spoke of Savage’s talent on his recent Locker Room podcast.

“Xavier is one of the fastest players in the game,” Kemp said.

“I ran 10.7 seconds (for 100m) when I was 16 but I was much lighter than this kid.

“If you run 11.2sec or under, you are an incredibly fast footy player.

“The way Savage moves he has great balance and he looks like a football player not just a sprinter.

“If this guy stays injury free and is mentally tough, he will definitely play NRL.”

Xavier Savage was at BBC in Brisbane and contracted to the Roosters, before moving to PBC very recently. There is absolutely no way that he could ever be considered a GC junior.

Sigh not a good article at all, the deal with Canberra was in train before he even got to PBC

Good to see Yorel Alapaki named again at hooker in the Southport U18 Division One side for their Round 12 clash against Tugun.

He played earlier in the season but went back to NZ for a period of time.

The Burleigh U18 Division One side looks very good especially in the centres where Titan Eli Morgan will line up with Damon Somerville tomorrow afternoon for their Round 12 clash against Helensvale.

Grafton Ghosts centre Dylan Collett maintained his insane try scoring record this season with four tries last weekend in the Group Two First Grade Grafton derby against the South Grafton Rebels won by the Ghosts 50-12.

From just eight Group 2 First Grade this year he has scored 19 tries.

This season should be no surprise as Dylan Collett has been the leading try scorer in the Group Two First Grade competition for the last couple of seasons.

One of the most impressive additions to junior rugby league on the Gold Coast is Burleigh U14 Division One second rower Philip Hakaraia-Ngamotu who has not only stood out for the Bears but played well for the Vikings and similarly outstanding in the U14 Queensland Age Championship on the Sunshine Coast recently.

Last weekend he continued to add to his growing reputation scoring four tries in Round Eleven as Burleigh overcame Ormeau 46-10 to make it ten tries from nine matches in the outstanding Burleigh U14 Division One side.

Another young player new to the Gold Coast region who is making a splash is Burleigh U14 Division One centre Matari Donovan who with his double in Round 11 on the weekend has now scored 22 tries from ten matches to maintain his place on top of the competitions try scoring tally.

His strike rate sits at a very healthy 220% after his double which contributed to Burleigh’s 46-10 win against Ormeau.

With his try in Round 11 last weekend in a 46-10 win over Ormeau, Burleigh centre Kalahni Lawrence now has a strike rate of 189% through nine matches.

From a try scoring perspective, you can add in a few tries for both the U14 Gold Coast Vikings and SEQ U14 representative sides.
