Agreed mate I am really looking forward to see these young blokes make the most of their opportunities.

The Mudgeeraba Redbacks had a solid 2018 U19 GCRL season and as a result have had a number of players selected in the Burleigh 2019 Hastings Deering’s Colts side, one being second rower Lane Ticehurst.

In the U19 competition he played in thirteen matches scoring three tries with those tries coming against Southport, Beaudesert and Bilambil.

Two more Titans made the Courier Mail's top 25 in Kea Pere and Will Evans.

    Kea Pere
PERE is an 18-year-old development players with the Titans NRL squad, but already has plenty of experience under his belt, having played Intrust Super Cup with the Easts Tigers. He was last month selected in the Queensland emerging under-20s squad and often plays as a centre or wing. He also attracted some interest from NRL heavyweights Melbourne, who are affiliated with the Tigers. Played for the Queensland under-18s in 2017.

    Will Evans
WITH English heritage, Evans has two more years on his Titans contract and can play centre or fullback. A Palm Beach Currumbin product, he spent time with the Broncos but left for more opportunities. He was man of the match in the NRL Schoolboy Cup national final in September. Turning 18 next year, the Titans consider him part of their future even though Super League club scouts will no doubt monitor his progress.

They are definitely trying. One night a week the Tweed and Burleigh MM teams (excluding boys contracted to other NRL clubs) have been training at Parkwood with the Titans coaching staff. The boys seem to be enjoying it and it has given the coaches an opportunity to see how the boys go. They have finished that block now but were all told how there is still opportunities with the Titans and that they have at least 2 coaches watch and review every game.

As they say Rome wasn’t built in a day, and the club has been hamstrung financially in junior development in the past but they are working hard and building something special.

Scoring should not necessarily be an issue for the Western Mustangs U20 Hastings Deering’s Colts squad in 2019 with Gatton winger Austin Jennings in the side.

In his first year with Gatton in the Toowoomba Rugby League First Grade competition in 2018 he finished with a 127% strike rate through eleven matches.

Austin Jennings scored four tries in a late April match against Southern Suburbs and also scored doubles against Pittsworth and Toowoomba Valleys. His other tries came in matches against Wattles, Oakey, Dalby and Goondiwindi. In fact in only two of his eleven matches the opposition was able to keep Austin Jennings from scoring with the opposition being Toowoomba Valleys and Southern Suburbs.
