Talented Lower Clarence Magpies Cooper Many second rower was a revelation this year for Lower Clarence in the NRRRL U18 competition and as just 17 years old is certainly going to be some sort of player when all is said and done and will be a key member of the 2019 Northern Rivers Titans U18 Laurie Daley Cup squad.

Cooper Many started the 2018 season as part of the Northern Rivers Laurie Daley Cup U18 side, playing in four matches, starting all in the second row with those matches coming against the Newcastle Knights Development Squad, North Coast, Central Coast Roosters and the Greater Northern Tigers.

From a club perspective in 2018, Cooper Many lined up in the second row for the Lower Clarence Magpies in the U18 NRRRL competition, progressing all the way to the Preliminary Final before falling to the Ballina Seagulls 30 - 14.

Cooper Many played in sixteen U18 NRRRL matches for the Magpies this season including finals and scored eight regular season tries. Each of Cooper Many’s tries came in individual games including games against Lismore Marist Brothers, Ballina, Murwillumbah, Casino RSM, Cudgen and Evans Head.

In 2017 Cooper Many played for the Clarence Coast Magpies in the U16.5 competition and finished as the competitions leading try scorer with ten tries from just twelve matches. Cooper Many scored a hat trick against Ballina and a double against Lismore Marist Brothers.

Cooper Many has previously represented Group One at the U14 and U15 levels in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Great to see the Titans forge formal links with Ballina High School and five students have been named as part of the Titans U15 Group One Development Squad.

Young winger Drew Atkinson proved to be a point’s scorer of note for the Ballina Seagulls in the NSW Country Group One U15 competition this season scoring 116 points from nine tries and 40 goals from just 14 matches.

He had a big match in early June scoring a hat trick against Clarence Coast (also kicking two goals) and another one in April against Kyogle when he scored a double and kicked seven goals (22 point match).

Drew Atkinson also scored tries in individual matches against Lismore Marist Brothers, Casino RSM and South Grafton on two occasions. He also had a big match with the boot late in the season, kicking seven goals in a victory against Clarence Coast.

In 2019 Drew Atkinson will be part of the Northern Rivers Titans U16 Andrew Johns Cup squad after representing Group One at the U15 at the NSW Country Age Championships earlier this year.

Ormeau winger Cooper Day had an outstanding 2018 season from a try scoring perspective scoring 11 tries from just nine matches (122% strike rate) including hat tricks against Southport and Robina and a late season double against Coomera.

In addition to playing for Ormeau in the U16 Division One competition Cooper Day will be pushing for a spot in one of the two Gold Coast Vikings U16 side’s after recently being named in the initial train on squad.

For me one of the most improved players across the Gold Coast Junior Rugby League competition in 2018 was Runaway Bay U15 Division One second rower Corey Dryden-Farrelly, with the young man deservedly being named in the 2019 U16 Gold Coast Vikings train on squad.

Unfortunately Runaway Bay were defeated in the U15 Division One Grand Final 38-20 by Ormeau with Corey Dryden-Farrelly starting in the second row.

Over the course of the 2018 U15 Division One season Corey Dryden-Farrelly played in 15 matches and contributing 62 points from six tries and 19 goals.

He had an outstanding start to the season scoring a hat trick and kicking two goals in Rounds One against Robina and finished the season with a flourish scoring a double and kicking five goals against Burleigh and a try and seven goals against Coomera in a Finals match.

Burleigh Bears hooker Joshua Clifton has recently been named in the Gold Coast Vikings U16 train on squad after his first season on the Gold Coast, moving from the Sutherland Shire, a season that saw him start in the U16 Division Two competition for the Bears before moving up to play in six U15 Division One matches.

In his first four matches in the U16 Division Two competition Joshua Clifton scored eight tries including hat tricks against Helensvale and Coomera and also scoring against Ormeau and Parkwood before his elevation to the U15 Division One side.

Young Ballina High School student and Ballina Seagull Reshawn Anderson was recently named in the Titans U15 Group One Development Squad after a season in the Group One U13 competition that saw him score 42 points from seven tries and seven goals through eleven matches.

Reshawn Anderson scored doubles against South Grafton and Casino RSM and also scored in matches against South Grafton, Kyogle and Lismore Marist Brothers.

With the boot Reshawn Anderson in the main kicked a goal a match but he did kick two in a late season match against Clarence Coast.

An outstanding article in the Bulliten today about the exceptional strides that the Titans have made in the junior development space and the hard work being done to keep our juniors at home.

Another article in the Bulliten today is in relation to the Titans snaring outstanding Australian School Boy backrower Juwan Compain from PBC, another great example of the Titans taking back the Coast.

People are rightly talking about the quality of the near NRL ready Broncos forwards, here is a tip, with the likes of Jai Whitbread, Darius Farmer, Juwan Compain, Ben Thomas, Luke Maiden etc the Titans youngsters are as good.

In the backs Jaxson Paulo, Ioane Seuili, Kea Pere and Will Evans amongst others are also not far away
