    Qld Maroon (Bailey Martin) defeated NSW CCC (Thomas Weaver, Jack Cullen) 42-4 at the ASSRL Championships in Mackay this afternoon.

    Jack Cullen scored CCC’s only try in the 8th minute of the first half.

    The Southport Round Eleven GCRL First Grade side fielded a young but talented halves pairing on the weekend in their tough 28-26 loss to Currumbin.

    18 year old Burleigh MM five eight Zane Harris was playing just his 3rd First Grade man and 19 year old half Kobe Whalen his 5th.

    Both are very talented playmakers.

    Tweed Heads MM winger Kiu Nuku-Ngala started in the wing and scored his third try of the season and kicked a conversion in the GCRL U19 competition in Round 11 on the weekend with his Currumbin side defeated Southport 40-6.

    He now has 22 points from three tries and five goals in the U19 competition this season.

    Tweed Heads MM youngster Codey McLaughlin made his GCRL First Grade debut on the weekend in Round 11 for Runaway Bay as they defeated Tugun 32-0. He started the match from the bench.

    In addition to playing a number of matches for the Tweed Heads MM side this season, Codey McLaughlin has played in 8 U19 matches scoring two tries and 2 Doug Lipp Cup matches scoring in one of those matches.

    18 year old star in the making Moeaki Fotuaika played his 7th NRL match on the weekend against the Wests Tigers, playing 24 minutes, running for 78 metres, 32 post contact and having a tackling efficiency of 100%.

    He now has a tackling efficiency through his seven NRL games of an impressive 94.1%.

    In addition to scoring his second NRL try from just six NRL matches AJ Brimson had a career high 163 kicking metres against the Wests Tigers. He also ran for 67 metres, breaking two tackles and made 16 tackles.

    His 2018 season tackling efficiency now stands at a creditable 84%.

    Big strong young front rower Daniel Shannon scored his first try of the season in the U19 competition in Round Eleven on the weekend. Unfortunately his Southport side went down 40-6 to Currumbin.

    Former Canberra Raiders NYC palyer Kalani Going has been named on the bench for Tweed Heads this weekend against Wynnum Manly in the Queensland Cup.

    Prior to his move to the Seagulls Kalani Going played in 8 NSW Intrust Super Cup matches for the Mounties starting the majority of the matches from the bench but also starting in the centres or second row.

    In those eight matches he averaged 77 metres and 18 tackles at a tackling efficiency of 84%.

    On the weekend the former Junior New Zealand International started from the bench for Tweed Heads in the GCRL First Grade competitions 18-16 loss to Burleigh.

    Brenton Daley-Holten continues to develop his fitness in the local U19 competition starting at fullback for Bilambil in Round 11 last weekend kicking a conversion as the Jets went down 32-30 to Ormeau.

    In the Confraternity Shield competition, Gold Coast’s Marymount College lead by outstanding hooker Cole Geyer had two wins on Day One on Monday defeating Marist College Ashgrove 24-10 and Rockhampton Grammar School 17-10 but unfortunately lost their Quarter Final yesterday 24-16 against Cathedral College Rockhampton.

    In June Marymount College won the Titans Cup School Boy competition defeating Keebra Park 52 – 6 with Cole Geyer being named the Titans Cup Player of the Competition.

    Electric PBC student and Tweed Heads U17 Division One half Tiger Rawlings continued his outstanding first season on the Gold Coast scoring a try and kicking three from four for the Seagulls as they defeated Mudgeeraba 22-10 last Saturday.

    Mudgeeraba U19 front rower Logan Cootes scored his 11th try of the season in Round Eleven last weekend as his Redbacks side defeated Helensvale 34-18. He is now equal leader of the U19 try scoring tally.

    Outstanding outside back prospect Braden Amundsen scored his second hat trick in the last fortnight in Round Eleven on Saturday as Helensvale went down 34-18 to Mudgeeraba.

    He has now scored 11 tries from ten matches to join Logan Cootes on top of the U19 try scoring list.

    Braden Amundsen has been named for the Burleigh Colts side on an extended bench the last couple of weeks and surely is closing in on his Hasting’s Deering’s Colts debut.
