Brisbane Grammar School recently has had an impressive history of bringing young men up from the Gold Coast to attend the school as well as play in the school's GPS First XV rugby side and 2021 saw the emergence of another young man from the Gold Coast by the name of Xavier Asi.

Xavier Asi excelled at fullback for the BGS First XV side against the likes of The Southport School (TSS) and Churchie, running the ball with speed and flair.

Xavier Asi will continue at BGS is 2022 but will start the 2022 season as part of the Burleigh Bears MM Cup squad.

Xavier Asi is just a dynamic runner of the ball from the fullback position in either rugby league or rugby.

Cultured centre/halfback/fullback Jai Vought is another Nerang Rooster who had a strong season including starting at left centre in Nerang's 44-12 Grand Final victory against Helensvale.

Jai Vought will continue to play with the Roosters in the GCRL U18 Division One competition in 2022 but before that will be part of the 2022 Burleigh Bears MM Cup squad.

Great to see Keebra Park's Anton Whaiapu named in the Cyril Connell Cup squad for Burleigh the 2022 versions of the U16 competition.

For various reasons fullback Shannon Donaldson did not play too many matches in 2021 for Nerang and Coombabah SHS but he will address that early in 2022 after his selection in the Burleigh MM Cup squad.

Sean Howlett had a busy 2021 season playing five eight for the Helensvale Hornets U18 Division One side and hooker for Coombabah SHS in the Langer Cup school boy competition.

In 2022 Sean Howlett will be looking for playing time in either position for the Burleigh Bears MM Cup squad.

Keith Baker had an outstanding 2021 campaign with the Runaway Bay Seagulls in the GCRL U18 Division One competition, primarily operating at halfback as well as being the Seagulls primary goal kicker.

In 2022 Keith Baker will continue with Runaway Bay in the GCRL U18 Division One competition but will start the 2022 year as part of the Burleigh Bears MM Cup squad.

The Mudgeeraba Redbacks are a developing Gold Coast Club with a bright future and that positive future is only enhanced with the likes of Redbacks Junior Brody Malcolm being selected in the Tweed Heads Seagulls U16 Cyril Connell Cup squad for next season.

Great to see Marsden SHS student Tyahn Keepa-Tamati named in the 2022 Tweed Heads Seagulls U16 Cyril Connell Cup squad.

In addition to being a talented rugby league player Tyahn Keepa-Tamati has also made representative Oztag and Touch teams.

PBC's Toran O'Donnell is certainly a very good selection in the 2022 Tweed Heads Seagulls U16 Cyril Connell Cup squad.

Great effort by Keebra Park Rugby League Excellence Program's Tyce Anyanwu-Bird to be rewarded with a spot in the 2022 Tweed Heads Seagulls U16 Cyril Connell Cup Squad.

Young Keebra Park fullback Disharne Tonihi will be very hard to keep out of the Tweed Heads Seagulls 2022 U16 Cyril Connell Cup side next year after his outstanding desplay's for Keebra Park in the school boy Hancock Trophy Competition including a great effort in a 16-12 Grand Final loss to PBC.

To say that Disharne Tonihi is great under the high ball would be a huge understatement.

Speed is a key attribute on a rugby league field and that is what 2022 U16 Tweed Heads Seagulls Cyril Connell Cup squad member and Keebra Park student Elijah Hano has in vast amounts. If he has room to move it is shut the gate.
