In Round Five in a Burleigh 38-22 win over Souths Logan Jesse Arthars partnered Brenko Lee in the centres playing the entire 80 minutes, running for 140 metres (32 post contact), made a line break, had a try assist, played the ball at an average of 3.87 seconds and made fourteen tackles at a tackling efficiency of 87.5%.

Jesse Arthars line break and try assist came from the same play, Jesse Arthars ran a hard straight line from right centre, breaking through the Souths Logan line around forty metres out, he then drew the fullback and sent a pass to his right to Tyrone Roberts-Davis to score in the right corner.

After being in the 21 man Titans NRL squad for a number of weeks, Jai Whitbread made his first Queensland Cup start of the season in Round Five when he started at lock for Burleigh in their 38-22 win against Souths Logan and scored his second 2019 try in the process. He had come off the bench in his other three appearances.

Jai Whitbread played a season high 63 minutes, ran for 153 metres (51 post contact), both also season highs, broke the line on two occasions, had a team leading nine tackle breaks (career high), played the ball at an average speed of 3.19 seconds and made a team leading twenty six tackles at a tackling efficiency of 96.30%.

In relation to his try, Jai Whitbread received the ball from the dummy half about ten metres out from the Souths Logan line from a block play, when he made contact with the defensive line, Jai Whitbread spun clock wise 360 degrees to break through the initial contact before he pushed past the Magpies fullback to score just to the right of the goal posts.

IF he continues to play like this Jai Whitbread will be impossible to keep out of the Titans NRL side.

After playing only 21 minutes in Round Three and missing Round Four through injury Tremain Spry was back in the Tweed Heads Seagulls Queensland Cup side for Round Five on Sunday and scored the Seagulls only try in their 32-6 loss to Wynnum Manly.

Playing on the right Tremain Spry played the entire 80 minutes running for 115 metres (13 post contact), made a line break, broke two tackles, played the ball at a team leading average speed of 3.01 seconds and made a tackle.

Tremain Spry’s try was one of the easier ones that he will score, he ran into a huge gap around seventy metres out to score under the posts untouched after some good inside work from the Tweed Heads play makers.

Great to see Titans contracted Tristian Powell being promoted from the MM Cup to the Colts competition for Round Six this weekend for Burleigh against Wynnum Manly after he was named on the Bears extended bench but it appears likely that he will make the final 17.

Tristian Powell started the first five matches of the MM Cup competition in the front rower and was one of the Bears standouts.

Yes it was a good try mate, he hit the line hard and crashed over with a couple of Bilambil players handing off him, he was pretty happy afterwards too, understandably so
