Titans contracted EJ Finau did not just play rugby league in 2020 but rugby as well as the Sunnybank Dragons and even though he was still U16 eligible EJ FInau started at outside centre in the U18 Brisbane Rugby Grand Final recently scoring the first try of the match when he took the ball on the right side of the field twenty metres out, charging into the defense, it looked like EJ Finau was held by two Souths defenders but he broke clear charging the remaining fifteen metres to score under pressure from two further Souths Defenders.

In SUnnybank' Grand Finla win EJ FInau also set up the Dragons second try when he broke clear down the left side of the field drawing the fullback and sending his left winger away down the left touch line to score in Sunnybank's big 48-20 Grand Final victory.

For the Titans in 2019 and 2020 against Balmain and Newcastle respectively EJ Finau started in the front row.

A big match by Southport Tigers left winger Callum Boomer yesterday scoring four tries and kicking four goals as the Tigers defeated Tugun in the final round of the GCRL First Grade competition.

The first three of Callum Booomer's tries came as a result of him backing up ball runners and the fourth when he chased through an attacking kick into the in-goal.

It was mate, the light was poor due to multiple injuries holding up play and a couple of other issues over the course of the match.

It may have been a shortened season but in 2020 Ty Kilpatrick still played a lot of rugby league matches including a match for the Titans Group 18 U16 Invitational side that played a trial match against a Titans U15 squad with the match being played at Cbus Stadium last Thursday night.

In the 2020 Group 18 U16 competition Ty Kilpatrick played for the Cudgen Hornets. The 2020 U16 Cudgen Hornets finished the regular season winning two games and losing eight, along the way scoring 138 points and conceding 244 to finish with a -106 points differential.

Ty Kilpatrick also played a number of matches for the Cudgen Hornets NRRRL U18 side in 2020 coming into the side after the competition was split into two due to the Queensland border restrictions. Ty Kilpatrick’s first match was off the bench against the Murwillumbah Mustangs in the “new” Round One and he also started from the bench in Round Two against Bilambil .

Ty Kilpatrick started the next three rounds at left centre against Bilambil (Round Three), Tweed Coast (Round Four) and Murwillumbah in Round Five.

In Round SIx against the Tweed Coast Raiders Ty Kilpatrick moved back to start from the bench and he also started from the bench in the 2020 NRRL U18 Major Semi-final against the Murwillumbah Mustangs.

Ty Kilpatrick started the 2020 season as part of the Northern Rivers Titans U16 Andrew Johns Cup squad starting all four of the matches the Titans played in the front row and was also named to start Round One in the front row against the Parramatta Eels but that match was washed out.

Ty Kilpatrick started in the front row against the Newcastle Knights (Round Two), the Central Coast Roosters (Round Three), the Greater Northern Tigers (Round Four) and the North Coast Bulldogs in Round Five.

So did some more asking around. The Referee’s brother was playing for Mur’bah and Bilambil are filthy with his performance.
    Don’t shoot the messenger I wasn’t there.

19 year old five eight Kade Hill continued his good form in the 2020 NRRRL First Grade Preliminary Final on Saturday scoring a first half try and setting up Murwillumbah’s last minute try that propelled them to a 20 – 18 victory to seal a Grand Final berth. Kade Hill’s try came in the first half when he was operating on the left side of the field down the short side, Kade Hill got on the outside of his immediate defender after dummying to his right and held off a defender with his left arm to score from ten metres out.

With just seconds to go in the match, Kade Hill recorded the critical try assist that propelled Murwillumbah into the 2020 NRRRL Green First Grade Grand Final when he put in a well weighted short chip kick to the right wing, for Titans contracted Riley Lack to take on the full and dive over.

Kade Hill is Colts eligible in 2020.

Exciting 19 year old hooking prospect Cole Geyer added a further try in Round Ten being the final GCRL First Grade regular season round on Saturday in a big Currumbin win against Ormeau.

Cole Geyer’s try came in the second half when he darted out of dummy half to his right, stopping quickly before cutting straight through the centre of the ruck to score from twenty five metres out.

Cole Geyer could have had a second try, when he backed up on the inside and received the ball once the fullback was drawn in running forty metres to the line. Instead of putting the ball down, Cole Geyer waited in the ingoal passing to his brother Nash Geyer to score. Normally I am not a fan of this but earlier in the match his father Matt Geyer (Melbourne Storm) had scored so by giving the ball to his brother it was an incredible situation where a father and two sons played in the same match and also all three scored.
