After missing Round Seventeen Ioane Seuili started from the bench in Round Eighteen of the Queensland Cup against Central Queensland and in his forty nine minutes on the field recorded his first career double with both tries coming in the second half.

Ioane Seuili’s first try was a five metre effort when he crossed out wide on the right (he came on to play right wing), with the second try coming when he backed up through the centre of the field to run thirty five metres untouched in Tweed’s big win.

In addition to his double, Ioane Seuili ran for 108 metres (31 post contact), had a team leading two line breaks, broke three tackles, played the ball at an average speed of 3.07 seconds and made twelve tackles at a tackling efficiency of 92.31%.

It may not seem so at first glance but this coming Saturday a big event will occur in relation to school boy rugby league when AIC schools in South East Queensland for the first time will play in an organised seven round rugby league competition.

Rugby League will be played in Term Three and rugby in Term Two.

The AIC has been a solely been a rugby strong hold so the eight schools embracing rugby league is a huge development in the rugby league v rugby battle.

Below are the Round One matches for Saturday 27 July.

St Patricks College v St Laurence College
    Villonova v St Edmunds College
    Padua College v Iona College
Marist College Ashgrove (undefeated in AIC 2019 First XV rugby) v St Peters College

Just to add some context to the discussion Cooper Cronk and Christian Welch are two Queensland State of Origin rugby league players that came through the AIC rugby system in recent times and six players who played in last year’s NRL Grand Final also came through AIC schools.
