    Now that the U16 Andrew Johns Cup competition has come to an end, a number of the Northern Rivers Titans players have moved to the U18 NRRRL competition even though they are U16 eligible in the Group 18 Junior Rugby League competition.

    One such player is hooker Oskar Bryant who started on the bench for Cudgen U18’s in their match against Murwillumbah.

    Post the Andrew Johns Cup Oskar Bryant along with multiple other U16 Northern Rivers Titans players was selected in the New South Wales Country U16 side for their two match tour of the United Kingdom in November.

    Brenko Lee continues to play well in the Queensland Cup at left centre for Burleigh. In Round Six on Saturday against Wynnum Manly, he played the entire 80 minutes, ran for 100 metres, 36 of which were post contact, played the ball at an average speed of 3.98 seconds and made eleven tackles at a tackling efficiency of 91.67%.

    Jai Whitbread certainly had an outstanding NRL match for the Titans on Friday night, his second ever.

    In his 38 minutes on the field Jai Whitbread ran for 93 metres, 34 post contact, played the ball at an average speed of 3.13 seconds and made 23 tackles at a tackling efficiency of 95.8%.


    Jai Whitbread make his NRL debut for the Titans in 2018 when he came off the bench in Round 18 against the Sydney Roosters making a more than positive impression in limited minutes on the field.

    In total in his NRL debut Jai Whitbread played 18 minutes running for 32 metres, 10.5 of those post contact and made nine tackles at a tackling efficiency of 81.8% in a solid debut for the 186cm 107kg Titans junior and South Tweed product.

    In Round Six of the Queensland Cup on Saturday night for the Tweed Heads Seagulls Titan Ioane Seuili moved from the right wing to play at left centre and had a very good match, playing the entire 80 minutes, running for 130 metres (47 post contact), broke a tackle, played the ball at an average speed of 3.7 seconds, and made fourteen tackles at a 100% tackling efficiency.

    Titans contracted centre Tremain Spry continues to make impressive strides towards the NRL.

    In Round Six of the Queensland Cup for Tweed Heads against the Mackay Cutters, Tremain Spry scored his fourth try of the season, when Tweed Heads spread the ball to the right, Tremain Spry got outside of his direct opponent and scored untouched from around twenty metres out.

    Playing the full game, Tremain Spry ran for 103 metres (twenty post contact), had a line break and a line break assist, broke a team leading six tackles, played the ball at an average speed of 3.97 seconds and had an 80% tackling efficiency in the match.

    In Round Six of the Queensland Cup for Burleigh, Jesse Arthars once again started at right centre and scored the first two tries of the match making it seven tries from just six matches this season.

    For his first try, Jesse Arthars ran a straight line into a gap in the Wynnum defensive line around sixty metres out from the line, he stepped off his right foot to beat the fullback and also stepped off his right foot once again to beat the Wynnum winger who came from the opposite side of the field to score under the posts. A similar line resulted in his second try when he split the Wynnum defence from around twenty metres out and was able to bring the ball around from the right corner to put it down under the posts.

    Playing the full match once again Jesse Arthars ran for a team leading 170 metres (twenty three post contact) had two line breaks, broke three tackles, played the ball at an average speed of 4.05 seconds and made eighteen tackles at a tackling efficiency of 94.74%.

    Congrats to all those that made the squads. The GC and Ipswich all seem to assemble their squads nice and early in the season which is a good idea.

    Good to see former Titan Luke Mastroianni back on the Gold Coast after a stint with the Newcastle Knights in 2018. He made his GCRL U20 debut in Round Four on the weekend when he started in the second row for Runaway Bay as they defeated Southport 32-14.

    Jackson Gisinger has certainly made an impression at his new club, the Mudgeeraba Redbacks in the GCRL U20 competition scoring a double on the weekend to make it four tries from as many matches as Mudgeeraba went down 24-20 to Currumbin.

    2019 Burleigh Colts second row recruit Jock Sullivan scored his second GCRL U20 try in Round Four over the weekend for Burleigh when they went down 28-24 agaisnt Helensvale.

    2019 Burleigh Hastings Deering’s Colts squad member George Santos-Motuapuaka made his playing debut on the Gold Coast in Round Four of the GCRL U20 competition, starting in the centres for Burleigh against Helensvale with the Bears going down in the match 28 – 24 however he did score on debut.

    For the Casey Warriors George Santos-Motuapuaka started the 2018 season in their Victorian Rugby League First Grade side playing in three matches including scoring in his First Grade debut against the Waverley Oakleigh Panthers. George Santos-Motuapuaka’s other two Victorian First Grade Matches in 2018 season were against the Sunbury United Tigers and the Truganina Rabbitoh’s.

    George Santos-Motuapuaka also played in one Victorian Reserve Grade match in 2018 which was against the Truganina Rabbitoh’s a match which George Santos-Motuapuaka scored in.

    2019 Burleigh Hastings Deering’s Colts squad member Brayden Young started at lock for Helensvale on the weekend scoring as the hornets defeated Burleigh 28-24 in Round Four. Brayden Young then came off the bench in the Doug Lipp Cup match.

    2019 Burleigh Hastings Deering’s Colts squad member Leighmon Hohaia Katene started his second match in a row in the Doug Lipp Cup competition at five eight and had a day out, scoring a double but unfortunately it was not enough for his Ormeau side to come away with a victory as they went down to Helensvale 24-14.
