Benji Neliman is a young Chinchilla based fullback who in 2019 should be a key member of the Western Mustangs Hasting’s Deering’s Colts squad.
In the MM Cup competition for the Western Mustangs in 2018 Benji Neliman played in all six of the Western Mustangs matches starting all in the centres except for Round Five against the Sunshine Coast Falcons when he started at fullback.
Benji Neliman’s three MM Cup 2018 tries came in consecutive rounds from Round Three to Five against Ipswich, Norths and Sunshine Coast respectively.
Post the MM Cup competition Benji Neliman played in thirteen matches for the Western Mustangs Colts side coming into the side in Round Eight against Mackay immediately after the competition of the MM Cup competition, starting that match against Tweed Heads on the wing.
In Round Ten Benji Neliman moved to fullback where he remained for the duration of the 2018 season. Benji Neliman scored four tries on the season, his first coming in Round Ten against the Mackay Cutters, the second in Round Sixteen against Norths and he finished the 2018 Colts season with a flourish scoring in both of the final two regular season rounds against Wynnum Manly (Round Twenty Three) and Central Queensland (Round Twenty Four).
In 2017 Benji Neliman played for Chinchilla in the Roma and Districts Rugby League competition at the U18 level as well as playing for the Central Crows in the MM Cup competition.
Over the course of the 2017 MM Cup competition, Benji Neliman started at fullback in all of the Central Crows matches and scored a final round double against the Western Mustangs in a tough 70 – 20 loss to the eventual 2017 MM Cup Champions and his 2018 team mates.
In 2016 Benji Neliman was part of the South West U18 squad for the QSSRL Championships playing in all four of South West’s matches against Peninsula, Darling Downs, Met West and the Presidents XIII. A team mate in that side was outstanding Titans linked youngster Jaxson Paulo. 2016 also saw Benji Neliman represent the Central Crows in the U16 State Junior Carnival including scoring a double in a big win against the Northern Marlins.
