Hey all. Does the prospect of Cole Gyer staying with the Titans seem slim and it highly likely that he end up at the Storm ? Is he a hooker that will go well ? Is he in terms of experience more along in development than Ediq or any other hooker in our system ?
    Thanks in advance.

He's never been with the Titans in any capacity mate. Just Burleigh.

Good player who I'm really surprised we haven't locked up. IMO he's a better prospect than any hooker we have in our development system.

In Round Four of the Gold Coast Rugby League First Grade competition on Saturday night, Will Evans moved up to the Burleigh side, starting 88 – 0 rout against Southport on the right wing, recording two try assists.

Will Evans first try assist came in the 23rd minute when he fielded a Tigers kick on the full just metres out from his own line and raced down the right touchline sixty metres. As the cover defence converged, Will Evans kicked back towards centre field with the ball bouncing ideally for Taine Tuaupiki to run onto and score next to the right upright.

Will Evans second try assist came in the when he backed up a long break by Taine Tuaupiki, receiving the ball and then producing a good right arm off-load of his own to his right for his halfback to race away to score.

Kai Smallwood started at halfback for the Bilambil Jets in Round Five of the NRRRL U18 competition on Sunday against the Kyogle Turkeys and was everywhere recording a try assist and three line break assists.

Kai Smallwood’s try assist came in the 17th minute when he through a cut-out pass to his right to put his right second rower over wide out.

The first of Kai Smallwood’s three line break assist came in the 35th minute when he ran the ball to the left side of the field to put William James into a gap and then just three minutes later in the 38th minute, this time on the right side of the field, Kai Smallwood ran the ball and whilst holding off one defender through a right arm flick pass for his right second rower to charge twenty metres downfield.

Kai Smallwood’s third line break assist came in the 55th minute when a good cut-out pass to his right put his right centre into a yawning gap.

It was not all about just setting of others in the match for Kai Smallwood as in the 14th minute he took the line on himself when he ran the ball on the right, dummying to the same direction to slice through the defensive line before a left foot step enabled Kai Smallwood to beat another defender before he was eventually brought to ground after making eighteen metres.

Kai Smallwood also produced an enthusiastic piece of play in the 20th minute when he chased hard a Michael Roberts kick that bounced in the Kyogle in-goal to, along with Michael Roberts, tackle the Kyogle fullback three metres out from his own line.

Taine Tuaupiki’s incredible 2021 season continued for Burleigh on Saturday night in Round Four of the GCRL First Grade competition when from fullback he scored a hat trick as Burleigh routed Southport 88 – 0.

Taine Tuaupiki’s first try came in the 13th minute of the match when he used his speed to slice through the Southport defensive line on the left side of the field and then was simply too quick for the fullback to score two metres from the left upright.

In the 23rd minute Taine Tuaupiki scored once again after some great work by right winger Will Evans. Will Evans took a kick on the full just out from his own line and then raced sixty metres down the right touchline before kicking back towards centre field with the ball sitting up nicely for Taine Tuaupiki who ran thirty metres to score next to the left upright.

Taine Tuaupiki completed his hat trick in the 58th minute when he backed up a break by the dummy half through centre field forty five metres out, breaking through one attempted jersey grab before veering to his right to round the Southport fullback to score.

In addition to his hat trick, Taine Tuaupiki also recorded three try assists, a line break and a line break assist in the big Burleigh victory.

The 27th minute of the match saw Taine Tuaupiki record the first of his three try assist when he put in a right foot stab kick towards the right corner with Regan Ogle racing through to get the ball down.

Taine Tuaupiki’s second try assist came in the 44th minute when he joined the Burleigh backline and
after engaging the defensive line on the right side of the field, Taine Tuaupiki was held by the defence with his back towards the goal line but he was able to pop a right arm off-load to Brett Stratton to dive over.

Taine Tauapiki’s third and final try assist of the match came in the 54th minute when after receiving the ball he cut back towards the goal posts getting within two metres of the try line before off-loading to Shallin Fuller who was able to dive over.

Titans linked Tuvalli Khan-Pereira continued his run of starts at right centre for the Burleigh Colts side against the Townsville Blackhawks last weekend and the match saw Tuvalli Khan-Pereira continue his try scoring run as well when in the 77th minute Tuvalli Khan-Pereira, after receiving the ball twenty metres out was able to get on the outside of his direct opponent and then dummying as he approached the Townsville left winger to crash over out wide to seal the Burleigh win.

Tuvalli Khan-Pereira also had a line break and a line break assist in the 22nd minute when he was able to get away down the right touchline, getting over the halfway mark before he produced an outstanding right arm flick pass to right winger Kalani Skipps who was able to break away before passing to Bryson Vaovosa to score.

Cameron Brown started at halfback for Burleigh in Round Six of the Hastings Deering’s Colts competition last weekend against the Townsville Blackhawks, once again being one of the Bears best and contributing two tries and two conversions to Burleigh’s victory.

Both of Cameron Brown’s tries were long range intercept efforts, the first of which came in the 28th minute, with Cameron Brown taking the intercept when defending on the left and running ninety metres to score. Cameron Brown’s second intercept try of the match was a seventy metre effort in the 71st minute which gave Burleigh back the lead after Townsville had hit the front just minutes earlier.

Cameron Brown’s kicking game was on song in the match with the first of a number of good kicks coming in the 16th minute when from dummy half Cameron Brown grubber kicked towards the posts from the left side of the field with Townsville forced to take the ball dead in-goal.

The Blackhawks had to take another Cameron Brown kick dead in-goal in the 26th minute after he had grubber kicked into the in-goal once again.

Rowan Mansfield started on the right wing for Ballina in Round Five of the NRRRL First Grade competition against Casino RSM on Sunday, scoring twice in the Seagulls victory.

Rowan Mansfield’s first try of the match came in the 50th minute when he found himself on the left side of the field, receiving the ball fifteen metres form the line, Rowan Mansfield charged at the line, spinning counter clockwise right on the line to get the ball down ten metres in from the left corner.

Rowan Mansfield’s second try was a simpler affair coming in the 53rd minute when he received the ball on the right wing after a Ballina backline movement with Rowan Mansfield running twenty metres untouched to put the ball down in the right corner.

Earlier in the day Rowan Mansfield started at fullback in Round Five of the U18 NRRRL competition also against Casino RSM, playing the first half before being rested to start the NRRRL First Grade match against the same opponent on the right wing.

Rowan Mansfield was in the action early in the match running the ball back fifteen metres from Casino RSM’s clearing kick from their first set after the kick off. Then in the 19th minute Rowan Mansfield did some good work near halfway after a Seagulls scrum win, backing ground before getting an off-load away.

Probably Rowan Mansfield’s best moment of the first half came when in the 20th minute he put in a deft right foot chip to the right corner with Lachlan Offley in plenty of space but the ball took a horror bounce to just elude the right winger.

It was obvious that Kyhan Weir was “up” for the match with the tall front rower being involved in the first two tackles of the match after Ballina had kicked off. The in the 19th minute Kyhan Weir made a strong twelve metres run before he was able to get his right arm free and off-load the ball. Kyhan Weir added to his efforts in the 59th minute with a fifteen metre charge to halfway as Ballina tried to arrest a two point deficit.
