Titans contracted local young front rower Brody Smitka is one of a number of Titans contracted players that have been named in the 2019 Gold Coast Vikings U16 train on squad.
Brody Smitka has played in two matches in Titans colours this season, the first when he started in the front row in the Titans U15 Invitational side that defeated a Western Mustangs Invitational side in March at Nerang and most recently when he once again started in the front row as the Titans overcame a Balmain Tigers U15 side 16-10 at Cudgen.
In the early exchanges of the Balmain match Brody Smitka and front row partner Jack Cullen dominated a much bigger Tigers forward pack.
The Coomera Anglican College student also this season was selected in the U15 Queensland White side for the U15 ASSRL National Championships after performing solidly for the South Coast U15 side for whom he started in the front row in the QSSRL U15 Championships held in Townsville in April of this year.
Even though he was still eligible for the U15 competition, Brody Smitka just like he has done in previous seasons has started the current season “up” an age group.
Brody Smitka started at lock for most if not all 13 of his U16 Division One matches for Helensvale scoring against Southport in early August to record his one and only try of the 2018 season.
