Another player back on the Gold Coast after a season or so away is Brent Barnes who spent 2018 in Sydney playing a number of matches with the Parramatta U18 SG Ball side on the wing.
Brent Barnes started from the bench for Helensvale in the GCRL U20 competition and also scoring as they defeated Burleigh 28-24.

The 2019 Burleigh Hastings Deering’s Colts side has an outstanding backline and as a consequence outstanding players like Titans linked Jayden Campbell find themselves in the GCRL U20 competition and dominating.
After scoring a hat trick and kicking two goals in Round Three, he also had a try assist, Jayden Campbell was at it again in Round Four scoring another two tries and kicking four goals for Helensvale as they defeated Burleigh 28-24 over the weekend.

Elusive fullback Andrew Brennan moves to Runaway Bay this season and recently was named in the 2019 Gold Coast Vikings U14 squad.
He played for Ormeau in the 2018 U13 Division One competition scoring an impressive 20 tries from just nine matches, being a strike rate of 222%. In fact Andrew Brennan scored in all nine of his 2018 matches.
Andrew Brennan scored four tries late in the season against Currumbin, hat tricks against Coomera and Parkwood, doubles against Helensvale, Mudgeeraba, Beaudesert and Southport and single tries against Runaway Bay and Southport.

Ballina Seagulls U18 second rower Tupou Lolohea has had an outstanding start to the 2019 NRRRL U18 season and with his hat trick last weekend in Round Three against Tweed Heads Seagulls has now scored eight tries through the opening three rounds.
In addition to scoring eight tries from just three NRRRL U18 matches Tupou Lolohea also scored a double a fortnight ago for Ballina in the Far North Coast Rugby First Grade competition. He started on the wing for Ballina as they defeated Southern Cross University 50-7.

Former Jimboomba Thunder centre/fullback Matthew Barrow is on the move to Beaudesert for the 2019 U14 Division One GCRL season and earlier this week was named in the Gold Coast Vikings U14 squad.
For Jimboomba in 2018, playing in the U13 Division Two competition, Matthew Barrow finished as the competitions leading try scorer with 29 tries from just twelve matches, recording a strike rate of 242%. He also kicked 13 goals to finish the 2018 season with 142 points.
Matthew Barrow scored five tries in an early season match against Helensvale, scored four tries in a match on four occasions against Parkwood, Ormeau twice and Southport, scored hat tricks against Currumbin and Burleigh and single tries against Runaway Bay and Helensvale.
In week one of the finals against Burleigh Matthew Barrow kicked five goals and he started at fullback in the U13 Division Two Grand Final however Jimboomba went down 18-15 to Helensvale.

Powerful youngster Wailer Whaiapu has recently been selected in the Gold Coast Vikings U14 side after a 2018 season which saw him start in the centres for Southport in their 42-22 U13 Division One Grand Final loss to Burleigh.
Over the course of the 2018 season in the GCRL U13 Division One competition for Southport, Wailer Whaiapu played in 13 matches including the finals series and scored seven tries.
He scored doubles in consecutive rounds in August against Coomera and Ormeau and also scored against Mudgeeraba, Beaudesert and Helensvale, the try against Helensvale was in Southport’s Preliminary Final victory.
At the 2018 Keebra Park Sport Awards Wailer Whaiapu was named at lock in the 2018 Keebra Park Team of the Year and also named Year 7 Player of the Season.

One member of the 2019 Gold Coast Vikings U14 side who should be great to watch is Southport Tigers centre Taelon Te Whiu-Hopa who had an outstanding 2018 season finishing as the second leading try scorer in the GCRL U13 Division One competition.
Taelon Te Whiu-Hopa finished the 2018 season with 116 points from 22 tries and 14 goals and in the 2018 U13 Division One grand Final he scored four tries but unfortunately Southport went down 42-22 to Burleigh.
In addition to scoring four tries in the Grand Final Taelon Te Whiu-Hopa scored four tries in Round One against Currumbin and kicked two goals in that match to finish with a 20 point match haul.
2018 also saw Taelon Te Whiu-Hopa play one match in the U14 Division Two competition scoring against Robina.

The 2019 Gold Coast Vikings U14 squad is talented across the board and one young player who is an outstanding addition to the squad is Burleigh and Keebra Park centre, Kalahni-Jai Lawrence.
In 2018 Kalahni-Jai Lawrence was close to unstoppable in the GCRL U13 Division One competition scoring 25 tries from just eleven matches, in fact he scored at least a try a match.
In the 2018 Grand Final Kalahni-Jai Lawrence scored a hat trick as his Burleigh side defeated Southport 42-22.
In 2018 Kalahni-Jai Lawrence scored four hat tricks in addition to the one in the Grand Final, including a hat trick in each of the opening three rounds of the U13 Division One competition with those matches being against Ormeau, Coomera and Beaudesert. He also scored a hat trick in June against Currumbin.
Kalahni-Jai Lawrence also scored doubles against Helensvale, Runaway Bay, Currumbin and Parkwood and single tries in matches against Southport on two occasions including the major semi-final.
It should come as no surprise that Kalahni-Jai Lawrence finished as the competitions leading try scorer in 2018.

Talented Byron Bay outside back Ethan Coldwell-Jackey made his NRRRL First Grade debut in Round Three last weekend and was part of the Todd Carney captained/coached side that defeated last years NRRRL First Grade premiers 18-12. Ethan Coldwell-Jackey had played in the U18 fixture earlier in the day.

Titans linked giant front rower Noah Johannssen played his second NRRRL U18 match in Round Three last weekend for Tweed Heads who went down 32-16 to Ballina.

Byron Bay 18 year old tear-a-way Kuyan Roberts Laurie played his second NRRRL match of the season last weekend in Round Three of the NRRRL First Grade competition, playing with former NRL player Todd Carney and they produced an outstanding result by defeating 2018 NRRRL First Grade premiers the Tweed Coast Raiders 18-12.

Lismore Marist Brothers Brody Jones who has been involved in Titans junior development matches scored his first try of the 2019 NRRRL U18 season last weekend in Round Three as Marist overcame Casino RSM 36-24.

Titans contracted left second rower Ryan Foran, a week after being part of the U16 Northern Rivers Titans side that won the Andrew Johns Cup, being named in the New South Wales Country U16 side and being named in the U16 New South Wales Emerging Origin squad made his U18 NRRRL debut when he came on for Murwillumbah in their loss to Cudgen in Round Three.

Not content with being a 16 year old making his U18 NRRRL debut last weekend for Cudgen in Round Three, Titans contracted Thomas Weaver came away from his debut with a try and four goals as the hornets defeated Murwillumbah 36-0.
