Powerfully built front rower or lock Tahrell Feaveai currently attends Brisbane’s Wavell State High School.

In 2021 Tahrell Feaveai is part of the Norths Devils MM Cup squad and started Round One against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls off the bench in the 21st minute of the match to play in the middle of the field.

Some of Tahrell Feaveai’s charges in the match were simply outstanding including one burst in the first half where Tahrell Feaveai charged onto the ball, knocking the initial defender backwards, then bouncing to his left and making a further ten metres, certainly more than 50% of Tahrell Feaveai’s metres in that run were post contact.

Tahrell Feaveai almost found himself on the Devils try scoring list when in the 32nd minute, he ran a straight crash line to the right of the play the ball from just three metres out. Tahrell Feaveai actually got over the line but could not get the ball down before being forced back into the field of play.

Tahrell Feaveai continued his strong match with a strong first hit-up off Wynnum Manly’s kick-off to get the second half underway. Even against a straight defensive line coming towards him, Tahrell Feaveai was still able to get the ball out over the twenty metre mark to get Norths onto the front foot to start the second half in decent field position.

Tahrell Feaveai moved into the Devils starting side at lock in Round Two against the Easts Tigers, scoring early in the first half of Norths big win. Tahrell Feaveai scored when he charged onto a pass (offload) from his left around three metres and caught the defenders totally unaware due to the speed that he ran onto the ball. Tahrell Feaveai got the ball down mid-way between the corner posts and uprights on the left side of the field, with three Tigers defenders trying in vain to stop Tahrell Feaveai from scoring.

Tahrell Feaveai scored once again in Round Three against the Redcliffe Dolphins after starting the match in the front row with his try coming in the second half, in the 56th minute to be precise.

Once again Tahrell Feaveai charged onto the ball taking the ball twenty metres out and flew through a gap before easily rounding the Dolphins fullback by veering to his right and score under the posts.

In addition to his try, Tahrell Feaveai proved to be devastating running with the ball especially in terms of restarts whether the restarts related to Redcliffe kick-offs or goal line drop outs.

Tahrell Feaveai also started in the front row in Round Four against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls.

In 2020 Tahrell Feaveai, at just 16 years old, broke into the Wavell State High School’s Langer Cup Open A side starting Round One of the elite South East Queensland School Boy competition at lock against Keebra Park, with the young man having a huge Open A school boy debut for Wavell SHS, scoring a double in Wavell’s impressive 38 – 24 victory.

Tahrell Feaveai’s first try came around ten metres into the match and was a result of strength and perseverance. After taking a hit-up which got Tahrell Feaveai to with-in ten metres of the Keebra Park line just to the left of the uprights, he got to his feet and after the next hit-up, Tahrell Feaveai backed up to take another hit-up, once again to the left of the play the ball. Tahrell Feaveai took the ball off the dummy half around eight metres out engaging the Keebra Park line still four metres out from the line, Tahrell Feaveai kept fighting and near the line spun around clockwise to get the ball down under the posts with three Keebra Park defenders trying to hold him up.

Tahrell Feaveai’s second try of the match once again came through strong, hard, straight running. Wavell SHS received a penalty directly in front of the posts, Tahrell Feaveai took the ball from the tap restart ten metres out and twice stepped to his left to beat multiple defenders and also produced a strong fend to hold another Keebra park off to crash over thirteen metres to the left of the uprights.

Tahrell Feaveai maintained his place in Wavell SHS’s Langer Cup Round Two starting side at lock against PBC in a great match that finished in an 18 all draw as well as in Round Three against Marsden State High School, a match that turned into a defensive battle with Wavell SHS prevailing 12 – 6.

Tahrell Feaveai continued his run of starts at lock in Round Four against St Mary’s and scored his third try of the 2021 Langer Cup competition as Wavell accounted for their Toowoomba based opponents 36 – 4.

Tahrell Feaveai was heavily involved in the lead up to his try early in the second half with a strong run that got the ball to ten metres out and directly in front of the posts, being awarded a penalty in the process after not being allowed to get to his feet to play the ball by the St Mary’s defence. From the penalty restart, Wavell got to within three metres of the line to the right of the goal posts. Tahrell Feaveai took the second hit-up of the set of six after the penalty being awarded, charging onto a short ball from the dummy half to the left of the ruck to barge over with the three defenders having no chance to stop him.

Tahrell Feaveai started at lock in Round Five as Wavell SHS qualified for the semi-finals even though they went down 6 – 4 against Ipswich State High School and also started at lock in Wavell’s semi-final loss to Keebra Park SHS.

Also in 2020 Tahrell Feaveai played for the Norths Devils in the GBJRL U16 Division One competition and started at lock in the Devils 24 – 10 Grand Final victory over the Redcliffe Dolphins.

Tahrell Feaveai ran the ball strongly in the Grand Final with the first of his many strong charges coming in the 14th minute when he ran the ball back from a Redcliffe drop out, taking the ball on the forty metre mark, to get the ball back in the twenty metre mark.

Just two minutes later in the 16th minute, Tahrell Feaveai charged onto the ball from ten metres out to the right of the play the ball to get within centremetres of the try line directly under the posts on the fifth and last tackle.

Tahrell Feaveai continued his strong first half in the 28th minute when a strong run to the left of the play the ball starting fifteen metres out, breaking three tackles to get the ball within five metres of the line. Tahrell Feaveai was not allowed to get to his feet quickly with Norths kicking a penalty goal from the related penalty.

Tahrell Feaveai was in the action early in the second half taking the hit-up after Redcliffe restarted the second half from the kick-off, initially receiving the ball in his own in-goal and getting the ball out to his own twenty metre mark.

Tahrell Feaveai also had a strong match for Norths in their 54 – 8 Preliminary Final victory against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls, scoring a second half hat trick after coming off the bench.

Tahrell Feaveai’s first of his three tries came in just the second minute of the second half when he received the ball four passes from the play the ball, with the ball being spun by Norths from the right of the field towards the left. Initially when he received the ball eighteen metres out from the line, Tahrell Feaveai looked to continue to promote the ball further left but instead brought the ball back into his body and charged towards the line, dragging three defenders over the line with him to get the ball down fifteen metres to the left of the uprights.

Tahrell Feaveai’s second try came in the 20th minute of the second half when he ran onto a pass from his left which put him into a big gap twenty five metres out. Tahrell Feaveai dummied to his left to beat the Seagulls fullback and over under the posts.

Tahrell Feaveai completed his hat trick in the 32nd minute of the second half when once again he backed up a break, this time by the Devils five eight, receiving the offload from his left and then Tahrell Feaveai was able to cross the try line five metres to the left of the uprights.

Tahrell Feaveai in fact could well have scored four tries but after a bustling effort from close range late in the first half, but ultimately he was dragged down just centremetres short.

As noted above Tahrell Feaveai had an outstanding 2020 GBJRL U16 Division One finals series, but he was also outstanding in the Covid shortened regular season.

In Round Five against Aspley, Tahrell Feaveai may have started on the bench but he made a big impact after coming on, including scoring a hat trick.

Tahrell Feaveai’s first try came just after he came on, when in the 20th minute when from twenty metres out from the seond play after a Norths penalty restart, Tahrell Feaveai received the ball two passes off the ruck, running into a gap before stepping off his left to beat the Aspley fullback to score under the posts.

The 2nd minute of the second half saw Tahrell Feaveai cross for his second try. Tahrell Feaveai received the ball two passes to the left of the dummy half fifteen metres out. Tahrell Feaveai broke two tackles getting through the initial Aspley defensive line before he ran directly over the fullback to score under the posts.

Tahrell Feaveai completed his hat trick in the 29th minute of the second half when he backed up a long range, received the ball from his right. After palming off the first defender he encountered with a left arm fend, Tahrell Feaveai broke a further tackle before dragging another Aspley defender over the try line ten metres in from the left corner post.

Tahrell Feaveai’s first involvement of the match after coming on in the first half was a fifteen metre run that took Norths over the halfway mark. Tahrell Feaveai was able to draw a penalty at the conclusion of his run as a result of the Aspley defence not allowing him to his feet quickly enough.

Tahrell Feaveai was awarded another penalty, once again for not ebing allowed to his feet quickly after making ten metres from the second hit-up of the second half.

In the 11th minute of the second half Tahrell Feaveai once again proved to be a handful for the Aspley defence on the way to making eighteen metres after receiving the ball to the left of the dummy half and using his elite footwork to navigatge his way through the centre of the ruck.

Tahrell Feaveai then broke through the Aspley defensive line in the 25th minute of the second half, making twenty five metres, breaking two tackles before a right arm offload saw the Norths attack continue.

Starting at left second row in Round Eight against Logan Brothers, Tahrell Feaveai scored once again, this time in the 18th minute of the first half. After receiving the ball two passes to the left of the play the ball, Tahrell Feaveai ran straight over the Logan Brothers five eight to score from fifteen metres and ten metres to the left of the uprights.

A few minutes earlier in the 13th minute, Tahrell Feaveai was heavily involved in North’s opening try of their 44 – 22 win when he showed quick hands to first receive the ball and then pass to his left down a short left blind side play in plenty of traffic.

Probably Tahrell Feaveai’s best run of the match came in the 41st minute when after Logan Brothers were finished for being offside at a kick-off, Tahrell Feaveai rumbled forty metres downfield to get the ball to within ten metres of the try line, breaking at least seven tackles along the way.

Whilst Tahrell Feaveai may not have scored in Round Ten against Redcliffe he still had a big influence on the match, coming on towards the end of the first half to play in the left second row position.

Tahrell Feaveai got within three metres of scoring late in the first half when he bustling run of ten metres saw him get close to the line.

Tahrell Feaveai was in the action early in the second half, taking just the second hit-up of the half bullocking ten metres and then in the 8th minute, Tahrell Feaveai did the same again from the kick-off to another Norths try from the Devils five eight.

In the 20th minute, Tahrell Feaveai flew out of the defensive line and smashed the Logan Brothers five eight, forcing the ball loose as a result of his initial contact.

2019 saw Tahrell Feaveai represent Met East at the QSSRL U15 Championships, starting in the front row for the school boy representative side. As a result of his performances in Ipswich for Met East, Tahrell Feaveai was selected in the Queensland White school boy side for the 2019 U15 ASSRL Championships starting in the front row for Queensland White at the Championships.

In early January 2021 Zane Harrison was part of a small group of Titans 2021 U15 players who after attending a Titans camp, trained with the Titans NRL squad and in mid-February 2021 Zane Harrison played in a Titans U15 Invitational Trial at Burleigh, a trial which included only the best of the 2021 Titans U15 squad members.

Zane Harrison started the match at halfback for the Titans White side and for me he was the standout player of the match with his ball running and deft kicking skills heavily showcased on multiple occasions, primarily on the left side of the field. Post that U15 Titans trial match, Zane Harrison signed a multi-year contract that binds the talented young man to the Titans for three years.

The exciting Titans contracted Tweed Heads Seagulls and PBC five eight/fullback was one of the reasons that PBC made it all the way to the 2020 Renouf Cup Grand Final. Unfortunately PBC went down in heart breaking fashion 10 – 8 to Marsden State High School with the Brisbane based school scoring a late try in the left corner saw PBC lose in heart breaking fashion.

In 2020 Zane Harrison played fullback for the Tweed Heads Seagulls U14 side in the Group 18 junior rugby league competition with the Seagulls going through the ten regular season rounds undefeated, scoring 316 points and conceding just 64 to finish the regular season with +252 points differential from their ten matches to record an average winning margin of just above twenty five points. Post the season Zane Harrison was named the Tweed Heads Seagulls U14 Group 18 Best and Fairest.

As a result of their outstanding 2020 season the Tweed Heads Seagulls U14 side qualified for the Grand Final against the Tugun Seahawks. Tweed Heads prevailed in the 2020 decider 30 – 4 with Zane Harrison being named Player of the Match.

Zane Harrison was a deserved Player of the Match in the 2020 Group 18 U14 Grand Final after a three try assist and a long range solo try performance.

Zane Harrison’s first try assist came early in the first half when he threw a long cut-out pass to his left right onto the chest of his left winger Creedence Donovan who dived over out wide. Zane Harrison’s second try assist came on the same side of the field when he took the ball right into the line before sending a pass to his left to put his left centre over.

Zane Harrison’s final try assist of the Grand Final came late in the match when once again he threw a perfectly weighted pass to Creedence Donovan who ran twenty metres to score near the left corner. Whilst all three of Zane Harrison’s try assist’s came when he was playing on the left, Zane Harrison also had some good moments whilst operating on the right (Zane Harrison literally moves from side to side to identify the best opportunity) including a great short ball early in the match to his right second rower who almost scored from twenty metres out. Zane Harrison set up a try on the opposite side of the field two play the ball later.

Zane Harrison put an exclamation mark on the Grand Final with a ninety five metre solo effort. Off a Tweed Heads scrum win ten metres out from their own line, Zane Harrison received the ball on the right side of the field, two passes off the scrum win, producing a great show and go to beat the Tugun defensive line and simply proved too quick for the cover defence running ninety five metres to score.

As noted above 2020 saw Zane Harrison play for PBC in the 2020 Renouf Cup school boy competition, including starting at five eight and operating on the right side of the field in the Grand Final against Marsden State High School.

In early October 2020 Zane Harrison was part of the Titans NRRRL U14/U15 Invitational squad that played a match against a Titans Gold Coast based U14 side, with the match being played at Cbus Stadium, giving the young players a great experience and in a Titans jersey as well.

In 2019 Zane Harrison was part of the Tweed Heads Seagulls Black side that took on Tweed Heads Seagulls White in the Group 18 U13 Grand Final, starting the match at lock.

Even though is side went down in the decider, Zane Harrison was one of the stand out players on the field.

Zane Harrison so nearly scored early in the second half of the Grand Final when he got to within a metre of the try line after a winding run. Zane Harrison initially received the ball to the right of the play the ball before cutting back to his left twice. Zane Harrison was initially grabbed by the defence ten metres away from the line but just kept pumping his legs and fighting the tackle to get close before his momentum was eventually stopped.

Even in the dying minutes with his side eight points down, Zane Harrison would not give up, making forty metres from just outside his own twenty metre area, stepping off his left on two occasions to break a number of tackles.

Zane Harrison produced an outstanding two try performance in Tweed Heads 2019 Group 18 U13 Preliminary Final victory against the Bilambil Jets.

Zane Harrison’s opening try of the Preliminary Final came in the 21st minute of the second half. Zane Harrison received the ball two passes off the ruck and to the left thirty metres out from the line. Zane Harrison ran at the line before stepping off his left foot to break through the defensive line before he easily outpaced the cover defence to score next to the right upright.

Zane Harrison scored again in the 25th minute of the second half when he was on hand to receive a perfect bounce under the posts in the in goal from a Tyler Harper attacking grubber kick.

Zane Harrison made an early impact in the Grand Final when just in the 3rd minute, he ran the ball from the back of the scrum to his right just twenty metres out from his own line. Zane Harrison’s speed took him straight through a gap before a step off his left put Zane Harrison into more space. Zane Harrison then stepped off his right foot on two occasions to beat additional defenders before he was finally brought down ten metres into Bilambil territory.

Zane Harrison was not just good running with the ball in the Preliminary Final and probably made the tackle of the match when in just the 5th minute he drove his shoulder into the Bilambil replacement front rower (No. 20), jolting the ball loose to add to the quality of the tackle.

Late in the 2019 Group 18 U13 regular season, Zane Harrison had a strong match, starting at five eight also against the Bilambil Jets. In the match Zane Harrison scored an outstanding solo try in the 23rd minute of the first half.

Off the back of a scrum, Zane Harrison ran the ball down a short right blindside bumping off the first defender he encountered before stepping off his left to beat a second before getting the ball down ten metres in from the right corner post.

Zane Harrison also played for Tweed Heads in the 2018 U12 Group 18 Grand Final.

Good to see former Titans junior Blake Campbell named on the Burleigh Colts extended bench for Round One this weekend.

In 2020 Blake Campbell played for South Newcastle in the Newcastle Rugby League competition, starting the season off in Reserve Grade before moving up to the South Newcastle First Grade side.

In the 2020 Newcastle First Grade competition, Blake Campbell started in the second row for South Newcastle in the Grand Final and scored early in the second half when he crashed over next to the posts, however South Newcastle went down in the Premiership decider 20 – 6 to Cessnock.

Blake Campbell also scored in the Newcastle Rugby League Preliminary Final as South Newcastle beat the Wyong Roos 28 – 24 and also scored in Round Seven against Maitland.

Blake Campbell also scored two tries in the 2020 Newcastle Reserve Grade competition with the first coming in Round Five against Kurri Kurri and then scored the following week in Round Six against the Western Suburbs.

In 2019 Blake Campbell was part of the Tweed Heads Seagulls Colts side starting either in the second row or at lock in all of his matches including their Elimination Final loss to Mackay captaining the side on a number of occasions. In total Blake Campbell played in fifteen Colts matches scoring four tries starting all in the second row.

In Round Ten starting at lock Blake Campbell scored a double against the Easts Tigers on both occasions Blake Campbell was on hand to retrieve a Tweed Heads attacking kick to score.

Blake Campbell also scored in Round Eleven when he charged onto the ball from only two metres out to crash over in the first half from what can only be described as a determined run . Blake Campbell also scored in Round Two against the Townsville Blackhawks.

In the 2019 Hastings Deering’s Colts Player of the Year Award tally Blake Campbell finished with four votes.

2018 saw Blake Campbell start off captaining the Tweed Heads MM Cup side and then progressing to the Tweed Heads Colts side.

Along the way Blake Campbell was selected in the 2018 Queensland U18 side and came off the bench in that game but unfortunately took a head knock which reduced his playing time on the interstate match.

Blake Campbell captained the 2018 Tweed Heads Seagulls MM Cup side was a standout through the competition including an impressive performance against the North’s Devils in Round One and a dominant individual performance in Victoria against the Thunderbolts which included him scoring a double in a big Tweed Heads victory 42 – 10.

Blake Campbell’s performance in Tweed Heads Round Three win 36 – 6 over the Burleigh Bears was also exceptional.

In total in the 2018 MM Cup competition Blake Campbell started in the second row for all of Tweed Heads seven matches including their final’s loss to Souths Logan. Across the seven matches Blake Campbell scored four tries. In addition to the two tries against Redcliffe previously mentioned, Blake Campbell also scored in Round Five against the Townsville Blackhawks and in Round Six against Wynnum Manly.

At the end of the 2018 season Blake Campbell received the 2018 Tweed Heads Seagulls MM Cup Coaches Award.

Blake Campbell broke into the Tweed Heads Seagulls Colts side in their Round Eleven match against the Northern Pride starting the match in the second row. All told in the Hastings Deering’s Cup to date in the 2018 season, Blake Campbell has played in nine matches and just like his debut has started all of those matches in the second row.

Blake Campbell has scored two tries, the first of which came in Round Eighteen against Souths Logan and he also scored against the Mackay Cutters when he ran a good line (outside shoulder route) on the right side of the field to burst through the defence from around ten to twelve metres out and then outpaced the fullback to score.

In the 2018 GCRL U19 competition this season for Runaway Bay Blake Campbell has played just the three matches as a result of his Queensland U18 and Tweed Heads MM and Colts commitments but in his second U19 game of the season he scored a double against Ormeau and in his third U19 match the following weekend Blake Campbell converted one of Runaway Bay’s tries in a win against Mudgeeraba.

Blake Campbell made his Doug Lipp Cup debut for Runaway Bay against Currumbin in mid-June 2018 after playing in the U19 fixture earlier in the day.

Blake Campbell’s form this season is not a surprise considering his trial form including a standout performance in a trial against the South’s Logan Magpies at Waterford in February. That trial at Waterford was a difficult one for Tweed Heads as they went down to Souths Logan but Blake Campbell was very good that night, and was in every match since.

To round out an outstanding 2017 campaign Blake Campbell was selected in November to be part of the 2018 Queensland U18 Emerging Origin squad which came together from January 21 to 24 this year for their first training camp. Other training camps are scheduled over the course of the 2018 season prior to the annual match against New South Wales.

Over the course of the 2017 season Blake Campbell played a number of matches in the MM Cup competition for Tweed Heads Seagulls and also played for the Runaway Bay Seagulls in the Gold Coast Rugby League competition.

For the Tweed Heads Seagulls in the 2017 MM Cup competition Blake Campbell started all six of Tweed Heads matches in the second row and showed his try scoring ability crossing for four tries including a double in Round One against the Ipswich Jets, a try in Round Three against eventual champions the Western Mustangs and his final try of the MM Cup competition came in Round Six in the local derby against the Burleigh Bears.

In the red, white and blue of Runaway Bay in 2017 Blake Campbell has played eleven matches in the U17 Division One competition and also three matches in the U19 GCRL competition. At the U17 level Blake Campbell scored four tries and kicked four goals for 24 points in total including a Round Two double against Bilambil and also tries late in the season against Helensvale and Mudgeeraba.

Blake Campbell made his U19 debut in May 2017 against Southport and has also played matches at that level against Mudgeeraba and Southport a second time.

In 2016 Blake Campbell played his football at the U16 level both in terms of club rugby league and in the CC Cup during the 2016 season. Blake Campbell as also involved in Coombabah State High School’s great GIO Cup campaign where he actually played on the wing in a number of games including a nationally televised match against Townsville’s Kirwan High School.

Blake Campbell stellar play was rewarded in 2016 when early in the year he was selected in the Queensland Academy of Sport U16 squad, before being named in the interchange bench for the Queensland U16 team in their annual match against New South Wales. Fellow Titans player Laz Sua was also part of the Queensland team that night which took place as a State of Origin curtain raiser. Unfortunately the Queensland side lost 12 – 10.

In the CC competition for Gold Coast White in 2016, Blake Campbell crossed for four tries two of which came against Gold Coast Green in Rounds Two and Five. Blake Campbell also scored a double in GC White’s semi-final loss to the Toowoomba Clydesdales. In all of his matches in the CC competition for Gold Coast White Blake Campbell started in the second row.

On more than one occasion in 2017 Blake Campbell was mentioned by Titans High Performance Junior Co-ordinator Jamie McCormack as being one of his team’s best in the weekly update posted on the Titans Official Site during the CC/MM season.

From a club perspective, Blake Campbell played for Runaway Bay in the U16 Division One competition playing in six matches and contributing seven tries over the course of the 2016 season. Six of his seven tries came from doubles coming against Burleigh on two separate occasions and also against Mudgeeraba, with his seventh try coming against the Helensvale Hornets.

Blake Campbell was in the Titans junior development system for a couple of years, and was one of a number of talented backrowers in our system and certainly in the region. Blake Campbell has represented the Vikings and Kookaburra’s on multiple occasions in the different age groups over the last couple of years and is part of the Gold Coast Rugby League Academy program in 2015, and was part of the Titans U14 development side that drew 32 all against a giant Samoan team at the end of 2014 at Burleigh.

The Easts forwards Colts forwards are going to have plenty of bruises after their Round One match this weekend after they play Burleigh.

Bears bothers Daniel (frontrow) and Samuel (interchange) SHannon are tough forwards who really enjoy the physical aspects of rugby league.

Their young brother Joseph who is part of this season's Burleigh CC Cup side is also very physical.

Both Samuel and Joseph Shannon are contracted to the Titans.

Northern New South Wales half back Tyler Harper is currently a member of the Titans JTS Program and also is enrolled at PBC State High School as part of their Rugby League Excellence Program and is set for a big 2021 season in the U15 age group.

In mid-February 2021 Tyler Harper played in a Titans U15 Invitational Trial at Burleigh, a trial which included only the best of the 2021 Titans U15 squad members. Tyler Harper started the match at halfback for the Titans Blue side operating on his usual right side of the field.

In 2020 Tyler Harper played half back for the Tweed Heads Seagulls U14 side in the Group 18 junior rugby league competition with the Seagulls going through the ten regular season rounds undefeated, scoring 316 points and conceding just 64 to finish the regular season with +252 points differential from their ten matches to record an average winning margin of a fraction above twenty five points per match.

As a result of their outstanding season the Tweed Heads Seagulls Group 18 U14 side qualified for the Grand Final against the Tugun Seahawks. Tweed Heads prevailed in the 2020 Group 18 U16 decider 30 – 4 with Tyler Harper starting the Grand Final at half back.

In the 2020 Group 18 U14 Grand Final Tyler Harper operated primarily on the right side of the field and had a try assist in the Grand Final as well as converting the Seagulls third try from close to the right upright in the first half. Tyler Harper’s try assist came in the second half when he took the ball to the line before putting in a short stab kick which he weighted correctly for his right winger to dive on the ball in the in goal.

Tyler Harper was also heavily involved in another Tweed Heads try in the second half when a long cut out pass to his right put his right centre into space who was then able to set up his support runner to score.

Tyler Harper also attends PBC as part of their Elite Rugby League Program and in 2020 started at half back for the PBC Renouf Cup School Boy Grand Final side that went down in heart breaking fashion 10 – 8 to Marsden State High School.

In the 2020 Renouf Cup Grand Final, Tyler Harper had a big game kicking two from two and also recording a try assist for PBC’s sole try of the match. In the second half with Marsden leading 6 – 0, Tyler Harper who was operating on the left, put in a deft grubber kick in to his left with the kick sitting up perfectly for PBC left centre and fellow Titans linked Tyler Small to fly through to take the ball and score next to the posts.

Tyler Harper converted the try that he set up for Tyler Small and then kicked a late second half penalty goal to put PBC in front 8 – 6 before the heart break of seeing Marsden score in the last seconds of the match to snatch victory.

Tyler Harper also had a number of outstanding Renouf Cup regular season matches for PBC in 2020 including a stand out Round Five against Wavell State High School, recording two try assists and being involved in another two.

Tyler Harper’s first try assist of the match, in fact also resulted in the opening try of the match. Operating on the left, Tyler Harper received the ball two passes off the ruck before sending a pass to his left for left second rower Sam Stephenson to charge over from forty metres out. The key from the perspective of Tyler Harper’s contribution to the try was that Tyler Harper did not just catch and pass. Tyler Harper received the ball and moved towards the defensive line before taking a step to his left before off-loading

If Tyler Harper had not run towards the defensive line before passing, the defence would have been able to slide to their right and have additional numbers in front of Sam Stephenson, but by running at the line Tyler Harper forced the defenders to hold their spacing and keep a defender tasked with honouring the threat of Tyler Harper running the ball.

Tyler Harper’s second try assist come in the second half when he put in a right foot chip kick from thirty five metrws out towards the left corner. The kick sat up perfectly for PBC left centre Tyler Small to run through and take the ball with no momentum loss to score on the left side of the field.

As noted Tyler Harper was also involved in two additional tries in the match, one on each half with Tyler Small scoring on both occasions. On both occasions, Tyler Harper did not throw the final pass for the try, but if he was not involved earlier in either play then it is unlikely Tyler Small scores either try.

On both occasions Tyler Harper received the ball on the left, sized up the situation perfectly (and quickly) and threw long cut out passes to runners in space who then could draw a defender and pass to Tyler Small. If on either occasion, Tyler Harper had either not thrown the pass as quickly (and accurately) or had gone through the hands then his outside support would not have had the time to take Tyler Harper’s pass in space and having the time to make the correct decision to draw and pass to set up a PBC try.

Tyler Harper was also more than solid In Round Three as PBC defeated Coombabah State High School 40 – 12. The match saw Tyler Harper record a try assist, two line break assists, both leading to Tyler Small tries and kicking three conversions, one in the first half and two in the second. Tyler Harper’s conversion in the first half was from just to the right of the uprights and in relation to his two second half conversions, one from just from the left of the uprights and the other, just to the right.

Tyler Harper’s try assist came in the second half, when under extreme pressure, after receiving the ball on the left, threw a perfect pass to Sam Stephenson who charged ten metres to score. Tyler Harper also had a line brea assist in each half. In the first half Tyler Harper took the ball towards the line on the left side of the field, putting Sam Stepehenson into a big gap fifty metres out, Sam Stephenson was then able to off load to Tyler Small. In the second half, Tyler Harper called the ball off the dummy half down a fifteen metre left blind side on around the half way mark. Tyler Harper held the ball up nicely before throwing the pass out the back to his fullback who had looped around to the left and was able to take the pass in a big gap and then offload to Tyler Small.

In Round Four against Forest Lake State High School Tyler Harper continued his solid impressive Renouf Cup season on the way to recording three more try assists and also converted PBC’s final try of the match from directly in front in a 26 – 4 victory.

Tyler Harper’s first try assist of the Round Four match came early in the first half, when, as usual Tyler Harper was operating on the left side of the field. Tyler Harper received the ball down a short blind side and at the line put in a short right foot stab kick which sat up ideally for Tyler Small who flew through to score.

Tyler Harper’s second try assist of the match was an impressive effort by the young half. As soon as he received the ball on the left side of the field, Tyler Harper stepped off his right foot to get on the outside shoulder of the immediate Forest Lake defender and then popped an exquisite short pass to his left to a straight running Sam Stephenson who charged through the gap that Tyler Harper had established to score.

Tyler Harper’s third and final try assist of the match was a heads up play from around forty five metres out. After a long PBC break down the right touch line the ball came back to the left to Tyler Harper who kept his eyes down field and as soon as he say a lot of space down field put in a kick down field angled to the left corner post. PBC left centre Tyler Small raced through to take the ball on the bounce and was able to bring the ball around to put it down under the posts. Tyler Harper then stepped up to kick the conversion.

Post the completion of the Renouf Cup school boy competition Tyler Harper was awarded a Future Reds Award at the 2020 PBC Sports Awards night.

Tyler Harper also played Oztag in 2020 making the U14 Boys Queensland Fury side for the Queensland Oztag Super Series after representing the Tweed Coast Giants. In late 2020 Tyler Harper was named in the 2021 Tweed Coast Giants U14/15 Boys Oztag squad.

In 2019 Tyler Harper was part of the Tweed Heads Seagulls Black side that took on Tweed Heads Seagulls White in the Group 18 U13 Grand Final, starting the match at halfback. In the tough Grand Final loss Tyler Harper was the Seagulls Black goal kicker and in the first half, kicked a good goal from the left side of the field to convert Riley Buchanan’s long range try.

In the 2019 Group 18 U13 Preliminary Final, Tyler Harper started at halfback, kicking three conversions and recording two try assists as the Seagulls qualified for the Grand Final.

Tyler Harper’s first try assist came in the 6th minute of the match when he ran the ball to the line on the right side of the field and threw a long cut-out pass to his right to put his winger into acres of space and get him a saloon passage to get the ball down in the right corner.

Tyler Harper’s second try assist came in the 25th minute of the second half when he put in a right foot grubber from ten metres out with the kick sitting up perfectly for Zane Harrison to run through and retrieve the ball and put it down under the posts.

Late in the 2019 Group 18 U13 regular season, Tyler Harper recorded another try assist against the Bilambil Jets.

Tyler Harper received the ball from the dummy half fifteen metres out in front of the posts and kicked with his right foot to the right corner. The ball was dropped b Bilambil with the Tweed Heads right centre on the spot to score out wide.

Tyler Harper also played for Tweed Heads in the 2018 U12 Group 18 Grand Final.

Tall northern New South Wales youngster Riley Buchanan is currently a member of the Titans JTS Program as is another young man that seems set for a great 2021 season in the U15 age group.

In early January 2021 Riley Buchanan was part of a small group of Titans 2021 U15 players who after attending a Titans camp, trained with the Titans NRL squad, then in mid-February 2021 Riley Buchanan played in a Titans U15 Invitational Trial at Burleigh, a trial which included only the best of the 2021 Titans U15 squad members.

In 2020 Riley Buchanan played right second row for the Tweed Heads Seagulls U14 side in the Group 18 junior rugby league competition with the Seagulls going through the ten regular season rounds undefeated, scoring 316 points and conceding just 64 to finish the regular season with +252 points differential from their ten matches to record an average winning margin of just above twenty five points.

As a result of their outstanding season the Tweed Heads Seagulls U14 side qualified for the Grand Final against the Tugun Seahawks. Tweed Heads prevailed in the 2020 decider 30 – 4 with Riley Buchanan starting the Grand Final at right second row and being heavily involved throughout, including a strong run in the early minutes of the match, with Tweed Head scoring two play the balls later after Riley Buchanan’s quick play the ball.

Riley Buchanan also scored in the Grand Final when he scored next to the right goal posts in the first half. With Tweed Heads playing the ball two metres out from the try line, Riley Buchanan charged onto the ball to the right of the play the ball and dragged three defenders with him over the try line to get the ball down adjacent to the right upright.

Post the season Riley Buchanan was nominated to the Tweed Heads Seagulls Junior Rugby League’s International Player with the Most Potential.

In early October 2020 Riley Buchanan was part of the Titans NRRRL U14/U15 Invitational squad that played a match against a Titans Gold Coast based U14 side, with the match being played at Cbus Stadium, giving the young players a great experience and in a Titans jersey as well.

In 2020 Riley Buchanan played in the Northern New South Wales Cochrane Cup school boy competition representing Banora Point High School in the U14 age group in the one day competition which was held at St Johns College Woodlawn’s campus, with Riley Buchanan being nominated as one of Banora Point’s best in their four matches. Banora Point won one and lost three matches on the day.

Riley Buchanan also played Oztag in 2020 making the U14 Boys Queensland Fury side for the Queensland Oztag Super Series after representing the Tweed Coast Giants. In late 2020 Riley Buchanan was named in the 2021 Tweed Coast Giants U14/15 Boys Oztag squad.

In 2019 Riley Buchanan was part of the Tweed Heads Seagulls Black side that took on Tweed Heads Seagulls White in the Group 18 U13 Grand Final, starting the match at left second row scoring an outstanding long range individual solo try in the first half.

Riley Buchanan was operating on the left side of the field and received the ball two passes off the ruck seventy metres out from the Seagulls White line. Riley Buchanan used his speed and size to burst between two defenders before rounding the fullback with speed to his left and then Riley Buchanan outpaced the cover defence to score ten metres to the left of the uprights.

Riley Buchanan was just as damaging in the second half of the Grand Final including a strong run early in the half of seventeen metres to the right of the dummy half to get the ball to near the halfway.

Midway through the second half Riley Buchanan produced another strong effort three passes to the left off the back of a scrum, making sixteen metres, most post contact, to get the ball to within twenty metres of the try line. Towards the end of the second half, Riley Buchanan once again ran the ball from a scrum win making eleven metres to get within nine metres of the try line.

Riley Buchannan also had a strong 2019 Group 18 U13 Preliminary Final scoring for the Seagulls as they qualified for the Grand Final with his try coming in just the 8th minute of the match. Operating on his usual left side of the field, Riley Buchanan scored another outstanding long range solo try.

As in the Grand Final, Riley Buchanan received the ball on the left side of the field, seventy metres out breaking through three initial attempted tackles before outpacing the Jets cover defence to get the ball down midway between the corner post and goal posts on the left side of the field.

Riley Buchanan came close to scoring in the 5th minute of the Preliminary Final when he charged onto the ball twenty metres out, breaking five tackles on the way to getting to within two metres of the line before the desperate Jets defence was able to halt his forward progress.

Riley Buchanan just five minutes later in the 10th minute made twenty hard fought metres taking the hit-up from the kick-off after his long range try. Riley Buchanan initially received the ball on his own ten metre line and was able to give his side good field position by getting the ball out to his own thirty metre mark.

Midway through the second half Riley Buchanan once again gave the Seagulls good field position when he ran onto the ball to the left of the dummy half making twenty five metres to get the ball five metres into Bilambil territory and just two minutes later Riley Buchanan made a further seventeen metres to get the ball into the twenty metre attacking zone.

Riley Buchanan capped off a great Preliminary Final performance in the 24th minute of the second half with yet another left side of the field run that made twenty five metres with Riley Buchanan eventually being stopped ten metres out from the try line.

Late in the 2019 Group 18 U13 regular season Riley Buchanan had a stringing match against the Jets once again, scoring three tries and assisting in another as Tweed Heads recorded a strong win.

Riley Buchanan scored his first try in just the 2nd minute of the match with a type of try that has almost become his signature, being a long range solo try. In this instance, Riley Buchanan attacked sixty three metres out from the line, once again on the left side of the field. After bursting through two initial attempts to tackle him, Riley Buchanan beat another defender with a right arm fend and had the pace to bring the ball around to score under the posts.

Riley Buchanan’s second try came in the 13th minute when from thirty five metres out, Riley Buchanan ran the ball down a short left blindside off the back of a Seagulls scrum win, beating six tackles and as he did for his first try, Riley Buchanan was able to bring the ball around to place it under the posts.

Riley Buchanan’s hat trick was completed in the 19th minute of the first half and once again was a long range try. Riley Buchanan got outside of his direct opponent on his left on the halfway mark before stepping the Jets fullback and for the third time in the match put the ball down directly under the goal posts.

Riley Buchanan very nearly scored a fourth try in the match but after a fifty metre run down the left touchline offloaded to his left around two metres out from the line. It is likely that Riley Buchanan would have scored if he had kept the ball but instead Riley Buchanan made certain that his team would score by offloading to his team mate who was guaranteed to score in the left corner from close range.

In addition to his exceptional running with the ball, Riley Buchanan used his size and strength in defence as well including a big driving tackle over the top of Tweed White’s right second right which bent the young man backwards.

Riley Buchanan also played for Tweed Heads in the 2018 U12 Group 18 Grand Final.

Great to see giant Titans contracted front rower Isaac Matalavea-Booth selected on the bench for the Burleigh Colts side for their Round One match against The Easts Tigers this weekend.

The young man has been outstanding in the pre-season for the Titans U19's and Burleigh and thoroughly deserves his chance this weekend.
