The Burleigh Colts side has had a tough start to the 2022 season and even though they went down yesterday by two points there were certainly some positive signs and some new players, including Tate Roberts, Caleb Pese and Kaden Somerville amongst them.

Taine Tuaupiki continued at fullback for the Burleigh Bears on the weekend in Round Eight of the Queensland Cup against the Mackay Cutters and scored in the 13th minute when after chiming into the Bears backline on the right around eighteen metres out on the right, Taine Tuaupiki engaged the line and was able to break through two attempted tackles to score mid-way between the goal posts and corner post on the right side of the field.

Taine Tuaupiki also recorded a 65th minute try assist when from on his own line he took the ball from a Burleigh knock back and streaked downfield. After a forty five metre run Taine Tuaupiki drew the Pride fullback and passed to his right to send Lofi Khan-Pereira on a fifty five metre run to the try line.

Playing the entire eighty minutes, Taine Tuaupiki ran for a team leading 178 metres (forty six post contact), made a team leading two line breaks, broke five tackles, played the ball at an average speed of three seconds and made five tackles at a 100% tackling efficiency.

Great to see Northern Rivers Titans Development squad member Jesse Soric pushing for a spot in the Keebra Park SHS Open A Langer Cup squad this season and tomorrow night the 16 year old from Byron Bay will line up at halfback for the Keebra Park SHS Year 11 Maroon side in the Titans Cup.

He seems to be doing well mate... Does he have much more growing at all do you know ?? Do you think his height could count against him at all ??

For me Taine Tuaupiki is an NRL fullback in waiting and of course he trained with the Titans over the off-season.

My only concern is that with Jayden Campbell playing well and Jaylan De Groot in the wings he may chose to head to another NRL club to get a better opportunity. I certainly hope that is not the case.

I can see Taine ending up being the next Melbourne Storm success story, or getting a gig with the Dolphins. I'm a big fan but with JC/Paul Turner/De Groot and even Keano Kini coming through the system, it's hard to see where he fits in.

This Burleigh team is going so well and I think they're a chance of taking it out without relying on Titans drop-backs. I expect a few of them could be poached by other NRL clubs.

Titans contracted Lofi Khan-Pereira continued on the left wing for Burleigh in Round Eight of the Queensland Cup against the Mackay Cutters on Saturday with Lofi Khan-Pereira scoring in the 23rd and 65th minutes.

In the 23rd minute Lofi Khan-Pereira chased through a grubber kick from inside Burleigh’s attacking twenty and was too quick for the defence to score easily wide out on the left.

Lofi Khan-Pereira scored once again in the 65th minute with a long range effort. Taine Tuaupiki split the defence from right on his own try line and just before the halfway mark Lofi Khan Pereira loomed up on his right to receive the ball and race fifty five metres to score in the left corner.

Playing the entire eighty minutes Lofi Khan-Pereira ran for 129 metres (twenty five post contact), broke three tackles, played the ball at an average speed of 3.61 seconds and made two tackles at a 100% tackling efficiency.

Very well mate, no doubt will be picked up by an NRL club hopefully the Titans can bring him back into the fold.
