The Southport School (TSS) is better known as a GPS school boy rugby First XV powerhouse but tomorrow the focus will turn towards rugby league with five member of their 2021 First XV squad playing in the MM Cup.

Kaleb Ngamanu and Nic Hilton will line-up for Tweed Heads and Syris Schmidt, Carson Patu and Jye Gray will be in a Burleigh jersey.

Kaleb Ngamanu, Nic Hilton and Syris Schmidt are all contract to the Titans. Of course one of the best TSS school boy players in their great history is also with the Titans and that of course is Jojo Fifita.

In the powerful Tweed Heads Seagulls MM Cup squad, positions are at a premium so it great to see Reico Ratana named 18th man for tomorrow's Round One match against Ipswich tomorrow.

The Young PBC student is also MM Cup eligible in 2022.

The Ipswich Jets U16 CC Cup side certainly packs some punch off the bench with powerful Titans forward Larry Siala named to come off the bench tomorrow in Round One against Tweed Heads.

The clash between him and Taelon Te Whiu-Hopa, who are both contracted to the Titans will be worth the price of admission alone.

The way that the current rules mean that rugby league is played means that having an all action lock who can play big minutes and also be a link between the others forwards and the backline has become critical to a teams success.

Thankfully the Tweed Heads Seagulls U16 Cyril Connell Cup side has one starting at lock tomorrow in Titans linked PBC student, Jonah Beaven, the young man is a mirror image of Souths Sydney NRL standout Cameron Murray.

One fascinating name on the Tweed Heads Seagulls Colts team sheet for their trial tomorrow against Burleigh is Dennis Waight who is a Runaway Bay junior and played a few matches for Titans Development squads in the U13 and U14 age groups before moving to rugby.

Dennis Waight was a stand out centre for Brisbane Grammar School in the GPS FIrst XV competition and in 2018 played for the Australian School Boys Barbarians side before heading to Canberra and part of the Brumbies Development program.

It is great to see the Gold Coast junior back in rugby league and getting him to Tweed Heads could prove to be a masterstroke.

2020 Keebra Park Langer Cup school boy five eight David Telea will start from the bench today for the Tweed Heads Seagulls Colts side in their trial against Burleigh.

The solidly built young man late last year was named in the Easts Tigers 2021 Colts side, but it is great to see him named for the Seagulls.

There are two things people should know about the starting front row of the Tweed Heads Seagulls Colts trial side which comprises of front rowers Ben Liyou and Solomon Torrens and hooker Ediq Ambrosyev.

One they are all outstanding players and two they are all contracted to the Titans.

The Northern Rivers Titans U18 Laurie Daley Cup side finished their competition yesterday with a tough loss to Newcastle in a strangely refereed match.

In the match, Titans contracted right centre Michael Roberts showed some real touches of class including a first half try and if he continues his current trajectory people will be saying James Roberts is Michael Roberts instead of the other way around.
