Default Titans re-sign forward duo until 2015

The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans have further bolstered the club?s forward pack for the future, with tough prop Matt White and rising young second rower Ben Ridge both extending their contracts with the club until the end of the 2015 season.

White, 28, has signed a new three-year contract which will take him through to his seventh season with the club by the end of 2015 while Under-20s graduate Ridge, 22, has agreed to extend his existing contract for seasons 2014 and 2015.

The signing of the duo further strengthens the club?s forward pack well into the future with the pair joining the likes of incoming high-profile recruit David Taylor, existing State of Origin trio Nate Myles, Greg Bird and Ashley Harrison along with Luke Bailey, Mark Minichiello and Luke Douglas in the Titans? engine room.

Jetstar Titans Coach John Cartwright said he was pleased to be able to keep the majority of the club?s existing forward pack together for the future.

?It?s great that we?ve been able to keep most of our existing squad together and these guys will be a big part of that over the next three years,?? said Cartwright.

?Whitey has played his best football as a Titan over the last four years having averaged more than 20 games per season.

?Ridgey was one of our best players in the Under-20s in 2009 and after overcoming some serious injuries since making the step-up to NRL level, he?s starting to show everyone what he is capable of .??

Roma born Ridge said he was happy to commit to the club long-term even with a year still to run on his contract.

Ridge has made himself a regular of the Titans forward pack this season with 10 NRL appearances and was one of the club?s best in last Saturday?s clash against the Warriors.

?The club has been good to me through thick and thin with some injuries so I wanted to repay the faith,?? said Ridge.

?There?s some really good depth here in the forwards and I?ve been able to learn a lot off the likes of Nate Myles and Birdy so it?s a good forward pack to be a part of.

?It?s been really good to string a few games together in first grade this year.??

After establishing himself as a mainstay of the Titans forward pack through 80 games in four seasons with the club, White said he was never tempted to leave the club.

?I?ve just really enjoyed my time up here, it?s a good spot to live and a great club to be involved with so it would have been pretty hard to leave,?? said White.

?At Newcastle I was in and out of first grade so it?s good that I?ve been able cement a consistent first grade spot and establish myself with the Titans.

?We basically have an Origin forward pack at the club and with Dave Taylor I?m looking forward to playing with all those blokes next year.??

Both are very good signings which should squeeze at least one fringe forward out of the equation.

White has been sensational this year and was must to keep. I've said before that Ridge is a future rep player and I still think he is. We haven't seen it yet, but his best is yet to come. Two good re-signings.

Yup, glad to see both fellas re-sign. It always brings a smile to my face when Ridgy takes to the paddock.

Best news of the season - Ridge is a weapon and is fast becoming my favourite player. Give me a home grown talent over a big cheque book signing any day.

    Now for a new coach...

Good signings. White will be a fitting replacement for Bailey.

What is the go with Taylor? Has he committed yet? Still not on that bandwagon to be honest.
I love Aiden Sezer so much I made his profile pic my avatar.

That's just so he can move into his new house supplied by the titans, as part of his new "Until the end of your career" contract
