Well I guess they have hit their mark with you.

I feel sorry for their supporters group the Red Army who have been working tirelessly for years. Making merchandise and promoting the bid. They got blindsided by this and it could have been easily avoided. The WARL need to go to great lengths to make things right.

On another note, Pirates was one of our rejected named. Many people were confident that the Gold Coast would be pirates. I even turned up to a NRL trial match at Carrara with a Skull and Cross Bones!

Perfect ... I heard that we lost out on that because of a split between Pirates and Buccaneers, however, I offer that in our current state of flux over financing we should be called the Privateers let's hope there are kinder winds and smoother sailing ahead.

Ive been honoured to be following and participating in the journey of the Red Army and I watch with interest as their supporter group forms.

Early suggestions have been... Pirates Bay, Crimson Armada, Scarlet Armada, Crimson Crew, the Bucaneers.

I think how they handle the Pirate theme will largely effect how "cool" or how "corny" it ends up being.

Scarlet Armada sounds really cool to me. I wonder if they'd want to use Pirates Bay due to its name already firmly steeped in piracy (the illegal internet downloading kind) haha

I was reading another forum where a WA fan called Perth Reds wanted suggestions for a new name and some clown offered Perth Redbeards just the thought of hundreds of fans wearing huge red beards is just classic.

Apparently the same guy made that logo as ours and Raiders. So it kind of recycled. But I guess it is kinda skull and cross bones like.

It's been mentioned and noted by Titans fans. No one is really arching up about it. But NRL supporters will note it.

There are many reaons why the Pirates would have been apt for us ... particularly in hindsight.
