Noone is comparing him to Slater but there are many comparing the efforts of our current FB to those of other teams

On the subject - I think Carty just needs some help - the players seemingly like Cartwright - if that changes then he needs to go - until then get someone in who can construct our attach and give our halves a clue how to put our centres one-on-one with someone and set up their wingers. Our attack has always been too flat, we need some depth and some support play fast. On the point about support play, we need Javarn or Ranking at fullback for that, Zillman just doesn't provide it - he's a good hole runner and does it effectively on the left which is where we don't have a specialist centre. We really need to get our balance right and I think we went someway to addressing that with Idris on the right last week. He looked far more comfortable (despite being in obvious discomfort). We're playing dumb and not playing for each other, that's a problem the coach needs to sought out fast.

Geese are the ultimate team players.

The players 'liking' Cartwright could be half of the problem. Why wouldn't O'Dwyer, Minichello, Henderson, Zillman and Michaels like Carty?? He's the only coach in the comp who would actually give them a run.

An assistant coach would only be good if he had first grade experience and was put in a position to take over if Cartwright can't get us out of the funk.

I find the talk about Slater and Barba interesting because I have absolutely no doubt in the world that neither of those players would be having the impact in first grade they are if Carty was in charge of them. Barba would undoubtedly have ended up playing Rugby 7's just as Shannon Walker did.

    12. Myles

    14. James
    15. Lawrence

The Irony is that Cartwright had never been an NRL head coach before the Titans, yet one of his biggest weaknesses is a reluctance to chance untested players and keeping guys on the field on the basis of 'experience' even when they aren't producing.

I said at the start he'd have to prove himself to me, it's 5 years later and he hasn't improved.

Thats the biggest problem with coaches who don't see potential in players and place this potential into the team with a structure that suits.

i think no matter what he will stay for the whole season unless he steps down himself, the best we can hope for is an end of season clean out, and i mean our sports science guys and fitness gurus need reviewing too and all that too. just get in some awesome guy like Dean Benton that brisbane has who will smash us into fitness which also brings a team super close.

The whole pre season would be a clean slate under a new coach who would see everyone with fresh eyes, and guys would have to earn that round one jersey!

I can't fault that recommendation, GCT100. At least Matty could fire the boys up 'n get it through to them to what it means to don a Titan's Jersey, week in 'n week out. Carty struggles to exuberate any signs of the above mentioned passion. If he does, I'm yet to witness it..

    Carty is shocking. Absolutely shocking.
Prince and Sezer in the halves.

IMO the type of coach we need

    1) Hard-Line Military style coach like belamy
    2) Will only select players in form
    3) Respected by the players and no player is bigger than the coach
    4) Preferably an ex experienced halfback similar to hasler, who has been there and done it.

    Cartwright
    1) To soft and buddy buddy with the players
    2) Picks players based on experience not form
    3) comes accross as some members of the team are bigger than the coach and almost untouchable
    4) He is a glorified props coach
