Default "I feel for our fans" - Cartwright

"I feel for our fans" - Cartwright
    Adam Gardini

Jetstar Titans Coach John Cartwright says he feels for the club?s fans after the Gold Coast?s tough start to the year but is adamant his side can turn things around if they can put together 80 minutes of football.

Cartwright said he was ?bitterly disappointed? with the club?s 26-6 loss to the Broncos on Friday night as the Titans shot themselves in the foot with a host of handling errors.

The Titans were hard at it back out on the training paddock at Station Reserve, Robina this morning ahead of Saturday night?s home clash against the Wests Tigers.

Cartwright said his side had to remain positive despite netting just two wins from their opening eight matches.

?I feel for our fans and I feel for the club,?? said Cartwright.

?It?s been a very tough last year and the start to this year.

?But I know no other way than to just deal with it as it happens and stay positive.

?Being negative and kicking stones - there?s enough people out there that want to throw rocks at us - so I?m not going to bend to that.

?But it is tough, to see what the club?s going through, I?ve very passionate about the club and I want it to do well.??

The Titans were their own worst enemies in the opening half against the Broncos, making a host of errors in their own half to gift the home side a 20-0 halftime lead before matching the Broncos for the rest of the match.

Cartwright said there were no signs of a poor performance heading into the Broncos match as his side went on to make 14 errors and were forced to make 88 more tackles than their opponents.

?As a coach it?s a tough thing to understand ... we broke a record for the amount of tackles we had to do the other night,?? said Cartwright.

?When you?re making 370 tackles in a game against a side the quality of the Broncos, you wouldn?t know what sort of score they?d rattle up on you.

?I?ve got to look at the positives and outside of a 20-minute piece of madness, we competed with them pretty well.??

Cartwright said the key to turning things around was striving for an 80 minute performance.

?I?m confident every week. I was bitterly disappointed with the result on Friday because I, along with everyone, fully expected to go up there for a win,?? he said.

?It didn?t happen but we?ve got to stay positive. These guys have worked very hard, they came through the trials in very good shape and we feel we?re competing in large sections of the matches, we just have to be able to piece 80 minutes together.??

The Titans will name their team for the Tigers clash tomorrow.

Yea. I don't question his sincerity or heart but at some point there is a need to recognise when someone doesn't have what it takes. I am no expert but it seems to me some coaches are better than others and Cartys days are numbered if he doesn't bring results.

Yah, yah and yah ... I wouldn't expect anything else from any coach on one of the games worst losing periods ... at least a year and a half of poor performances cannot be excused by wearing your heart on your sleeve. I don't doubt his sincerity but when does he, club management and a very large number of our players become accountable?

It is unfortunate that Carty's comments in the article has little effect with a few of us. It's like what he said has no substance 'n doesn't give us anything to look forward.

It's kinda a bit Like Searlie popping his head up around next Christmas and hinting towards us Fans, that Gold Coast Titans Pty Ltd might be in a bit of financial strife..

The problem is simple, and it's the fact that Cartwright is focused on "staying positive" rather than facing reality.

In most interviews he has given of late, which are the same BS from the same script, he is basically blaming the coach. Look at all the things he says, and ask yourself, and i am talking to you Carty, who does the buck stop with? Surely if you look at his own rationalisation of why we aren't winning, he has to take at least a large percentage of the blame.

This crazy idea that playing well for 60 minutes shows we are a good football side and we should be happy with the "good" 60 minutes we are putting together really gives me the sh!ts. There is a failure in there somewhere, and the common denominator from 2011, and now into 2012 is the coach.

If you really do care about the club, at the VERY LEAST, swallow your pride and get someone in to help you. Clearly you can't do it all yourself. We need someone who can get that extra 20 minutes out of the team. You are saying it yourself FFS!

"I feel for the Titans Fans cause Hendersen still has the photos and I still have to pick him despite he is only good enough for Q Cup" is what Carty is actually saying. Hahahah

If Searle is still the director of the club in 2013 I will not be renewing my Gold membership.

If Cartwright is the coach of the Titans in 2013 I will not be renewing my Gold membership.

I will show my support for the club by not financially propping up the ineptitude of these two. IF EITHER OF YOU TRULY FEEL SORRY FOR THE FANS WALK AWAY AND GIVE US SOMETHING POSITIVE TO FEEL ABOUT THE CLUB!!!

Well they need to be turfed NOW then!! This will ensure that some of our developing players will be given their chance away from Cartwright.
