Thinking Cartwright is going to do anything different is crazy. He is a hopeless coach and our borderline-criminal boss / owner / ceo / whatever has signed Zillman to a 5 year deal that would probably rate amongst the worst contracts in the history of the National Rubgy League.

Barring injury, I don't see how Zillman will get replaced at wing even if it is to left centre. With the 5 year contract, they'll have to justify it by having him in the spine

I've gone for Rankin. I just think he has to be in the team for the future of our club. He's got good vision, has a good long kicking game, runs well in broken play, good support player, reads the game well can ball play a bit and is a talker. he might not be as dynamic as Mead but with Zillman playing at left centre and Idris back to the right, Mead will see more ball and get some protection when the bomb goes up from big Jamal.

I've stayed out of this because I just can't see a long term solution but I've gone for Mead too.

My issue is not so much about him, although he does get rattled easily, but more about the changes that would happen. How about this?

Mead goes to fullback and Idris goes to right centre. Peyroux goes to the right wing - I'm not prepared to write him off but lets get real - he just can't pass. The only problem with this is having Prince and Idris defending the same side. I would also bring the new pass-free Minichiello on this side.

On the left I suggest that Zillman starts inside Graham and swap around. I know that I will get howled down for dropping Gordon but again lets get real, he is a shadow of his former self and first grade is not the place for playing yourself in. The biggest problem here is Zillman has very questionable passing skills.

All good points. Though you failed to mentioned that he chokes more often than not under the high ball 'n can't really defend a charging opposition 10 metres out from our line. In the NYC he was brilliant, just unfortunately (at the moment) he lacking what we need at the NRL level.

Infact, the more I watch Inglis play fullback, the more inclined I am to favour someone of his stature for our fullback position. Could Peyroux cover it?

Prince, Idris and Peyroux all next to each other, that has disaster written all over it

Yep, all the options are flawed in some way. I feel that Peyroux can hold a wing spot on defence, catch and run straight lines but he can't pass so he's no good at either centre or FB. However, he can get in to cover Prince as he did in the early games. Idris, as I've stated many times goes ok on the left, but won't pass outside plus he seems to have all our guys wanting him on the right. To be honest, at the moment I would be bringing him off the bench.

Rankin does little for me unless he's in the halves but not over Sezer. I must admit that I am looking forward to Falloon's return if only for some hope.

That's just it, Dom has shown me time after time that he wont stay on his man, he will fly in leaving his man unmarked. Idris isnt the best reader in defence, Prince is a very good reader but poor on contact.

Personally I think the backline is fine how it is, swap Champion with Idris. Idris never has been a passer of the ball, he busts tackles then offloads...he isnt a smooth operator like Matt Cooper or Jamie Lyons who draw and pass.

Morris is only one example, how about Inglis and Michael Gordon.

add Brett Mullins and Anthony Minichello to the list too, neither of whom would be confused with ball players.

I voted for Graham in the pre-season poll ... just kidding, no I didn't but one person did ... maybe the coach.

My favourite Fantasy player MAtt "2 Bux" Wright for the Sharkies has been going alright. There are plenty of examples over the last few years.
