Watching Ryan James play this year has equaled or even surpassed the emergence of Srama. James is a real weapon in the making for this Club and I cant wait to see how good he gets.

I am also keen to see James emerge with increased fitness and an off-load he can learn from Bird or Idris.

Presto tips Bailey for Broughton medal

GOLD Coast Titan Luke Bailey already has two Paul Broughton medals, but teammate Preston Campbell believes Bull's performance this season could earn him another one tonight.

Despite a season of despair, the Titans will officially pull the curtain with tonight's player of the year awards before begining the hard work to reclaim their position as NRL contenders.

While boom rookie Matt Srama has been tipped to take out the top award in his debut season, 2008 winner Campbell felt the 20-year-old was no certainty.

He felt Bailey, NSW and Kangaroos forward Greg Bird or William Zillman -- who together with David Mead were the only Titans to play all 24 games -- had been solid in a season of on-field misery.

"There's a few guys up for winning but Bails could be up there to win it for a third time," Campbell hinted.

"Srams, he came in and every game he played he had to get some points.

"(And) Zilly's played well plus Greg Bird has played strong all year."

While Bailey could add his name to the honour roll for a third time, the medal could be draped around a different neck.

With inaugural winner Anthony Laffranchi, who shared the medal with Bailey, and 2009 recipient Nathan Friend departing the club and Campbell retiring, a changing of the guard could be in store for the Titans.

The again, the medal could stay with 2010 recipient Bailey.

But if either Srama, Bird, Zillman or one of the other top contenders -- including Maroons stalwart Ashley Harrison -- earn the honour, a whole new responsibility would come with it, according to Friend.

"The guys who before me have upheld the club for the last four years and you take that into account and their performances over the last four years I dare say the guy that receives it should appreciate it," Friend said.

As for appreciating the award, Campbell said there would be no worries there.

"I said on the night I won it that Paul Broughton is a great man to me; he's taught me a bit and he has great values," he said.

"I love his values and it's an honour to win something in the club. I've won premierships and other individual medals but I definitely hold that up as high as any."

Luke would be another worthy winner, he has been consistently brilliant for us and must have featured in the clubs 3-2-1 very often.
