Young Mr Carney is a v v talented footballer, but really, is this a footy club or a bloody wayside chapel. I dig Mr Searle's comments that we have a great 'program' or whatever at the club for getting people back on track - but is that our job?? Surely that's for Carney et al (yes, Mr Myles, that includes you) to sort out themselves. The Titans are BEGGING for trouble with these two dopes up here. No wonder we're losing games - ditch Nathan Friend and sign these two drunks - great idea!!!!!!

The Titans are already in trouble...contracting pretty boys wont fix the problem.

I agree with Ryan and it would be crazy if Searle didn't throw an offer Carneys way...but I'm sure other clubs will offer more.

it came down to a choice... do u keep a player who is solid but is getting on in his career or do you keep a young kid who has loads of potential...
they did the right thing n matty backed up the management faith this season n showed why they picked him over friend...

I followed the majority of the Friend saga, and Srama was not picked over Friend. Matty Srama was never meant to play in the NRL this year but injuries, results, and the poor form of Riley Brown in the 9 forced Carty's hand. In the end it worked out well for the Titans but you could have potentially lost both Srama and Friend this year.

Why is Nathan Friend being discussed in this thread though? The money saved by not signing Friend was wasted when they signed that hack Idris.

We can only play with the cards we've been dealt ... I haven't seen any players on the market that I would have chosen over the ones we've got, except perhaps Boyd.

I certainly rate Luke Douglas and Nate Myles as players we needed ... I don't see how Champion is anything less than fair value and even with Idris' variable form he is streets better than anyone else available or that we have in that position and Graham brings solid depth.

Having said that, Sezer is completely untested and Carney is a quality A Grade pivot.

I've never been so conflicted about anything in my entire life as a Gold Coast Giants / Seagulls / Chargers / Titans supporter.

Back in the bad old days we never had any (and I mean any) reason for optimism, but the Titans have made me feel that we could actually win a premiership. I go to the GF every year and every year I try to imagine what it would be like to actually be there for a Titans decider. If Carney can be a part of making it happen, it's the stuff dreams are made of...

Then again...

If he white ants the team from within by creating a culture of dishonesty and distrust we may fall into a funk that it could take YEARS to turn about. It's not the drinking in the past that's a problem, it's the fact that he is a divisive liar who has not shown the respect to his team mates in following club directives.

Im gonna be the first to come out and say it like it is I WANT CARNEY, WE NEED CARNEY. Screw the media he needs respect then we will become a better team unit.
