Default Roosters' Myles fined and released

Nate Myles has played his last game for the Sydney Roosters, with the NRL club sacking the Australian and Queensland representative on Thursday.

The Gold Coast-bound forward was also fined an undisclosed amount following his latest alcohol-related breach - a lengthy drinking session with fellow players Todd Carney and Frank Paul Nuuausala - while on a team-enforced drinking ban.

"Following discussions with Nate Myles and his manager in relation to the recently issued breach notice, it has been determined that Nate will be fined an undisclosed sum and will continue to be excused from training and playing, as well as any other club activity under the terms of his contract," the Roosters said in a statement.

"The club acknowledges Nates contribution over the past five years and wish him every success in the future."

Meanwhile, Mitchell Pearce hopes Carney finds a home somewhere in the NRL next year if he follows Myles out of the door.

Carney has already been stood down for the remainder of the regular season and will learn of his fate at the end of the season.

Should the 25-year-old be axed, the NRL have yet to decide on whether they would register any contract offered by another team for 2012 and beyond.

But Pearce, his good friend and halves partner in last year's grand final loss to St George Illawarra, believes it would be a good thing if he was allowed to join a rival club next year.

"Obviously I hope he's playing somewhere," Pearce told reporters on Thursday.

"But I honestly don't know what the situation is with it all, hopefully that will work itself out soon."

Pearce admitted he'd accepted the prospect of having played his last game alongside Carney.

"For sure, he's a good mate of mine and a very good player," the NSW halfback said.

"It's very disappointing but it's out of our hands and we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

"I've talked to Toddy a little bit but I can't really comment because I'm not too sure what's going on there."

Despite the negative publicity surrounding the club over the past two weeks, Pearce said the mood was positive ahead of Friday's showdown with Parramatta, following two successive victories.

"Everyone is really upbeat at the moment, the last couple of weeks," he added.

"Obviously we had a bit of drama throughout the year at different times but not one time have the boys *****ed or anything like that."
