Elliott stands down as Panthers coach

PENRITH Panthers coach Matthew Elliott has been replaced by assistant Steve Georgallis after standing down from the job today.

The Panthers had already made the decision not to renew Elliott's contract beyond this season and club boss Phil Gould is searching for a new coach.

Georgallis will take over in a caretaker capacity for the remainder of the season after Elliott decided to stand down immediately.

Another assistant coach Wayne Collins has also stood down.

Collins will join South Sydney next season after being announced on the weekend as an assistant to incoming coach Michael Maguire.
