Carney back for Roosters
AAP Tue, May 10, 2011 - 5:00 PM
Sydney Roosters star Todd Carney has been named to make his return in the NRL club's match against Cronulla on Sunday.
The five-eighth was stood down by the Roosters three weeks ago after it was revealed he had been out until the early hours of the morning drinking with fellow Rooster Anthony Watts.
The Dally M medal winner Carney has undergone treatment for personal issues as well as ongoing physiotherapy for a groin injury.

Sharks lose injured Smith for 3-4 weeks
Russell Jackson AAP Wed, May 11, 2011 - 1:17 PM
Fresh from losing star prop Kade Snowden to Newcastle next season, NRL strugglers Cronulla have learnt they'll be without Kiwi international Jeremy Smith for up to a month because of a knee injury.
Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan revealed the extent of backrower Smith's knee injury a day after he'd named him in his team to play the Sydney Roosters at Toyota Park on Sunday.
"We knew he had knee injury but we didn't know the extent of it," Flanagan said.
"He's strained his medial (ligament) and could be out for two to three weeks, maybe four.
"But with the bye coming up we should be okay... touch wood, he should be right in three weeks."
Flanagan is expecting a great battle with the Roosters, who welcome the return of star five-eighth Todd Carney from a club-imposed suspension.
"He (Carney) will be ready to play and to make a point, he's a great footballer and what he does best he does on the footy field," he said.
"He and Pearce are the cornerstones of the Roosters' attack and we'll be giving them plenty of attention for sure."
