You got no pace on the bench...what happens if a back gets injured?

I think the team i posted first could cover a backline injury but apart from Vidot i don't see many back line players worth putting on the bench.

ATM slater is the best FB in the game but i would consider putting him on the wing and Barba at FB just because it would benefit the team.

I know he is a very good impact player but what's your reasoning?

You didn't mention the fact I had him in the centres!

Qld name two debutants for Origin I

    Tracie Edmondson NRL.com Tue, May 17, 2011 - 1:05 PM

Storm centre Dane Nielsen, a late inclusion for injured star Greg Inglis, will join Broncos winger Jharal Yow Yeh as the only two debutants in an experienced Queensland line-up announced today for game one of the 2011 Harvey Norman State of Origin series next week.

Nielsen, 25, and Yow Yeh, 21, who made his Australian debut two weeks ago, have been named in a starting 13 otherwise filled with incumbents from the 2010 Series, Queensland's record-breaking fifth consecutive Origin series win. The 2011 series opener takes place at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday week (May 25).

The only other changes to the team, announced at a corporate function at Brisbane's Royal on the Park, are the inclusion on the bench of forwards Corey Parker and Jacob Lillyman. The Broncos' Parker, 29, last played Origin in 2005, while the Warriors' Lillyman, 27, last played in 2008.

Inglis is believed to have been omitted on medical grounds after South Sydney had him undergo more scans on Monday.

The NSW VB Blues team was announced on Sunday and featured five debutants.

The XXXX Queensland team for Origin 1 is:
    1. Billy Slater (Storm)
    2. Darius Boyd (Dragons)
    3. Dane Nielsen (Storm)
    4. Willie Tonga (Cowboys)
    5. Jharal Yow Yeh (Broncos)
    6. Darren Lockyer (c) (Broncos)
    7. Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys)
    8. Matthew Scott (Cowboys)
    9. Cameron Smith (Storm)
    10. Petero Civoniceva (Panthers)
    11. Nate Myles (Roosters)
    12. Sam Thaiday (Broncos)
    13. Ashley Harrison (Titans)
    Interchange
    14. Cooper Cronk (Storm)
    15. Corey Parker (Broncos)
    16. Jacob Lillyman (Warriors)
    17. Ben Hannant (Broncos)
    18th man: David Taylor (Rabbitohs)

Probably the weakest QLD side since we last lost a series. Parker is a great player. But he's an 80 minute player and having him on the bench is a waste. Lillyman is another surprise, didn't think he was a chance to get a spot ahead of Taylor.

I rate Esi Tonga higher then Nielsen.

Yeah me too mate, he must have been close to a start, would be a dream to see 2 brothers at center.

Might have worked against him, they dont want the destraction

I think the lock was going to either Johnson or Harrison...both have high work rate and should start the game without a planned interchange.
There're not impact players and therefore not suited on the bench.

Nielsen was picked because he is a Storm player.
