A GOLD Coast Titans player has been embroiled in an alleged domestic violence incident with the player claiming to be the victim.
Police were called to a Gold Coast Highway residence at Miami about 2am yesterday after a disturbance involving the player and a woman.
The man was believed to have been drinking earlier in the night at nightspots around Broadbeach.
A police spokesman said a 23-year-old woman was due to appear in Coolangatta Magistrates Court today in relation to a domestic violence incident involving a 27-year-old man.
Police sources said the woman was believed to have gone to the player's residence, woken him up and tried to get in.
The footballer is believed to have resisted and a scuffle ensued in which the man reportedly suffered a minor injury.
The woman is believed to be considering a domestic violence counter-claim, police said.
Gold Coast Titans chief executive Michael Searle said last night he had investigated the incident and was confident the player had done the right thing.
"I've spoken to (the player), the young woman involved, her brother and the police and at this stage, the club won't be taking any further action," he said.
"This seems to be little more than a lovers' tiff and everyone's a little bit embarrassed. But (the player) is the aggrieved party here."
