It will be either Friend or a new signing IMO.
Lawton & Srama seem to be a little way off still.

    Any hookers available to sign?

    No to Berrigan too.
Looking through Zero Tackle (http://www.zerotackle.com.au/rugby-l...contract-2011/) at off-contract players, seems the following hookers could be available (in no particular order)

    Paul Aiton
    Ben Hunt
    Andrew McCullogh
    Glen Buttriss
    Ryan Hinchcliff
    Aaron Heremaia
    Lance Hohaia
    Isaac De Gois
    Clint Amos
    James Segyaro
    Aaron Payne
    Masada Iosefa
    Beau Falloon
    Jake Friend
    Mark Riddell

Butriss and De Gois only ones I'd be looking at, although neither hold a candle to Friend. I wonder if Kingston would want to come home?

The salary cap is the most difficult balancing act in the world. The Bulletin story suggests that Friend can get close to $1M over 3 years with the Warriors.

We all know how good he is, BUT, he is the wrong side of 30 and has just come off shoulder surgery.

He is undoubtedly important to us but we can't break the bank to keep him with the likes of Ridge, Thompson, Ryan etc all in line for contract upgrades soon.

Don't believe everything you read in the paper. If that was true it would put him around the 300 - 330k a season with the Warriors, which isnt far off the mark of what he is worth.

Out of that list I think

De Gois, Mculluoch, Iosefa & friend would be the best buys.

It would be pretty strange replacing Friend with a Friend...

Devastating news. I love Nathan and think he is just about our most important player and dearly want to see him stay at the club.

He is loved by fans and I think it would break our hearts to lose him.

he has been our best player since our inception and if he goes it will not go well with the fans. other teams are hoping we make a dumbass decision to not resign searle stop looking for 400k centres and resign the important guys

Ive been watching Fox Sports News for the last hour or two and no mention of this story.

Yet it rightfully is BIG NEWS for Gold Coast fans.

This was on the cards 2 months ago. Titan Pete will confirm this. Both of us were sitting having a quiet beer at the Novotel Coff Harbour a couple of hours after the trial against the bunnies when Cartwright sat at our table and we got talking. Pete mentioned Friendy to Carty and he said pretty well this... "You have a good hooker who is nearing the end of his career and you have a young up and comer (Srama). You can't keep both so what do you do?"

I really really want Friendy to stay but if we don't match what the Warriors offer we will lose him..

....and I agree with what someone said somewhere else in this post. We use an extra interchange player when Friendy isn't there. That really shouldn't be sneezed at.

If you were to go with performance, i would prefer these guys to be the next Hooker for our club
You make sure they remember, forever, the night they played the Titans!

Channel 9 Gold Coast News opening:

"Friend packs his bags for New Zealand."
    More to come.
