Default Man sues over angry bird attack

    Sunday, March 27, 2011 ? 08:57am

A man who alleges he was attacked by a rooster at a US suburban animal centre has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $US50,000 ($A49,022) for injuries he says were caused when the territorial chicken repeatedly pecked his right leg.

Mark Lovett says he was putting up a fence at the Big Run Wolf Ranch in Lockport, Illinois two years ago when the fearless fowl struck, causing him 'great pain and anguish, both in mind and body', according to the lawsuit filed in Will County circuit court.

The lawsuit did not detail what injuries were allegedly caused by the bird, which Lovett says was 'not provoked' before plunging its curved beak into his leg. Calls to Lovett's lawyer and the ranch were not returned.

Personal-injury lawsuits involving angry birds are unusual but not unheard of. A woman filed a similar lawsuit in Massachusetts in 2007 alleging a rooster had attacked her when she tried to buy some eggs from a roadside stand.

Roosters, long prized for an aggressiveness celebrated in B-movies like Rooster: Spurs of Death! typically attack with their claws, beak and the spurs on their legs.

There are several reports of people being killed by roosters - the most recent a ****fighting accident in January that left a California man dead after he was cut by a fighting rooster's metal spur.
