Mat Rogers in charity fight night
Mat in training during his former days with the Titans
RETIRED Titans star Mat Rogers will make a comeback to professional sport in December -- as a boxer!
CoastConfidential can reveal 'Mat the Rat' will step into the ring for the 'battle of the codes' charity fight night which will act as the undercard for the Les Sherrington World Title fight.
Fight promoter Jamie Myer last night confirmed Rogers and Titans teammate Luke O'Dwyer had been locked in for the December 4 event at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
Rogers was not known for his boxing prowess on the field, but it is understood he has been hitting the gym in recent weeks for regular sessions in the lead-up to the event.
The field for the event is rapidly taking shape.
AFL legend Spida Everitt, Basketball great Shane Heal and former league personalities Scott Sattler, Sam Stewart and Kevin Campion are also booked in.
It is understood several other big name Titans are in negotiations to step into the ring.
Word on their availability will be known shortly.
Sattler and Everitt will get a taste of competitive boxing tomorrow night when they head to the Tweed Heads and Coolangatta Golf Club for a string of professional and amateur bouts.
