    Farah plays down Titans bust-up

By Ian McCullough AAP Thu, 02 Sep 2010 18:55:46
West Tigers skipper Robbie Farah has played down any talk of a potential flashpoint with Gold Coast hooker Nathan Friend ahead of Friday's crunch NRL clash at Skilled Park.

Farah and Friend traded blows when the two sides met in a bad-tempered clash at Campbelltown in round 18 after Farah accused Friend of trying to head butt him as they packed down for a scrum.

It was one of three bust-ups between the sides as the Tigers edged out the Titans 15-14, in a game that saw Gold Coast backrower Mark Minichiello sent to the sin-bin for striking.

However, Farah denied there was any bad blood between the sides, who will battle it out for a place in the top two on the ladder in the final round of the season.

"I think it will be a lively game because of the fact that it's an important game for both teams," Farah said.

"We are both trying to get in the top two and it will be a very intense atmosphere and that has nothing to do with what happened at Campbelltown, that is gone and forgotten."

Farah also admitted securing a finals spot for the first time in five years had lifted the pressure around the club and said it would have been a major failure had they failed to make the top eight.

"There was definite pressure on us to make the semis, with the squad we have assembled I think anything less than the semi-finals wouldn't have been good enough. (Coach) Tim (Sheens) will say the same thing," Farah said.

"But it is one thing to make the semis, it is another to do something in them and that is what we intend to do."

The Tigers will be without Bryce Gibbs, Geoff Daniela, Liam Fulton and John Skandalis for the trip to south-east Queensland.

Centre Chris Lawrence is also sidelined with a broken jaw, sustained in the win over Melbourne last week, and Sheens revealed he is considering handing a NRL debut to Balmain-Ryde NSW Cup fullback Sean Meaney, with Mitch Brown to play at centre.

"He is a specialist fullback who represented NSW Residents this year and played well," Sheens said.

"He has played very well in the Balmain-Ryde side that has done well. I'm looking at maybe giving him a start."

The Tigers also announced on Thursday that they would play their home finals matches at the Sydney Football Stadium.

"We are very fortunate to have three wonderful home venues and whilst we love Campbelltown Sports Stadium and Leichhardt Oval, the Sydney Football Stadium is the logical choice to host our much anticipated home final," said Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys.

"The Sydney Football Stadium is widely regarded as the premier rugby league venue in Sydney and we feel strongly that the big games deserve to be staged at the best venues."

They may feel a little too comfortable about securing a top 4 spot already & hopefully we'll ambush them tonight by Plenty

There is not much chance of anyone throwing too many punches in this match when the semi's are only a week away

Semi finals came a week early , a very tough match with an outstanding 1st half from Rogers but Greg Bird played his best game ever in Titans colours , how tough is the Prince, looked gone then produced a pass only he could throw then slots the goal from the sideline !!

Injuries almost crueled us but 14 & 1/2 players did the job fine.

Bring on the Warriors or Roosters next week & we'll also have the 20's to cheer for again after a last minute win.
The only thing we won't know till Sunday is are we playing Friday or Saturday night !

Channel 9 thought that but it's almost impossible to do, they thought 2 players came on when Harro was blood binned but Chalky was already on the field when he raced to the scrum & then Bodene came on as the replacement.

great win but you know what i enjoyed the most which probably no one remembers off the bat? the kick from the scrum that i had been calling for and i think some other people have too for kevin gordon, it nearly paid off too. i must say i was pissed off with benji for that unnecessary spaz attack at the end.

Wow what a game. Looked in command early with 13-nil at half time. Really lost our teeth without Prince but he came back courageously to lead us to victory.

Just got back from a fantastic night at a jam packed Skilled Park! Great night and I'd like to thank everyone who made it so fantastic, all the Tians fans and The Legion and the players.

Other highlight was witnessing that amazing NYC try by our boys in the last minute to seal a Toyota Cup Finals position and then coming to celebrate the try and win and Finals appearance with the Legion straight after.

    Well done!

OMG what a game!!! I am actually exhausted after it - can only imagine how the players feel!!!

Quick question - legion members - is there still a "legion" for semi's??? As in we can purchase our own seats tomorrow but technically we don't have seats as such and we want to purchase additional seats also on Monday. So is there still unreserved seating for legion for semi's???

    AWESOME!! Go the Sharks now!!

How'd you feel when Prince went up the tunnel?? I got a call from a friend who heard the Channel 9 reports that he had broken his collarbone and I dead set felt like I had ben punched in the guts. The first half was the Bulldogs game all over again - all the possession in the world but a lack of scoreboard pressure without the little General there to direct the traffic.

When he returned after halftime it was like Easter to a Christian - Resurrection!!

Bring back Bull and bring back Presto now and we can beat anyone. I will be cheering for a big win by the Warriors tomorrow because I fancy our chances against the Cuzzy Bro's and it would mean a great crowd with our large Kiwi population here on the Coast.

    Bring on the home final!!!!!

That's exactly what I said to those around me - exactly the same as the Bulldogs game.

Great win by the boys - one of my favourite moments was the kick from the scrum to Gordon which almost led to a try.

I can't wait till next week - go the Sharks!
