RUGBY LEAGUE: Former Gold Coast Titans prop James Stosic has been punted from his English Super League club Wakefield midway through a two-year contract due to overseas player restrictions.
The Wildcats hoped New Zealand-born Stosic would become exempt from the overseas quota by acquiring a Macedonian passport before next season.
But Stosic has been unable to do so, leaving the club with no other choice but to terminate his deal.
The signings of Daryl Millard,
Ben Jeffries, Glenn Morrison and Shane Tronc for next season mean the Wildcats have no room in their squad for any more overseas players.
Stosic will now more than likely return to Australia in an attempt to revive his career.
Meanwhile, foundation Titans forward Kris Kahler has returned from a stint in the French rugby league and will join Redcliffe in the Queensland Cup next year.
Kahler is hoping to forge an NRL comeback, by getting a call up for Dolphins' affiliate club Brisbane during the State of Origin period. -- LUKE TURGEON
