Default April Fools: Campbell Injury Blow Looms for Titans

    Preston in Doubt
By Stuart Montgomery Thursday April 1st 2010

Dual Internation Mat Rogers is prepared to take over the role of halfback against the Cowboys this week with make shift No 7 Preston Campbell needing a miracle to play.

Campbell suffered a head injury in training this morning in a freak accident.

This comes as a massive blow for the Titans as their normal halfback Scott Prince is already out for up to 7 weeks with a thumb injury.

"The thought has crossed my mind," said Rogers after Campbell was ferried to hospital in an ambulance.

"Maybe the way the Cowboys play might dictate what we do but it is an option."

"The little guys is a big part of this team, he's like Prince in many ways for us," Rogers said.

"Hopefully he's not too bad. It would take a big part out of our game.

"Cartwright might put me at halfback, I'm not sure." Rogers said.

    Matt Geyer: I'm Ready
By Stuart Montgomery 1st April 2010

"I'm ready to step up." says Geyer.

Matt Geyer who signed a deal with the Gold Coast Titans last year has put his hand up to help the Titans who are struggleing with depth in halves.

"I played there for some of my junior footy, and I will put up my hand if Carty wants me."

It's unconfirmed but Cartwright is ready to welcome the veteran back to the NRL and to the Titans.

"With Preston and Princey out this may be our only option." says Cartwright.

Me too. Toopi could come into left centre to cover Rogers spot. Defensively the backline would be hard as nails.

Fingers crossed that's all it is.

If it's not how about Friend to 7 Riley to 9, with Rankin on the bench. Rogers to take most of the in field kicks.

It's a joke Campbell talked live on nrl.com at midday which finished 24mins before Boofs post.
