    Seagulls fail in shocker

FOR the second time this season the Burleigh Bears have been involved in what was undoubtedly the Queensland Cup’s most boring game of the round.

Unfortunately for the Tweed Heads Seagulls it was their home game at Ned Byrne Field, and they’re the ones that finished on the wrong side of the 14-6 scoreline.

“It was the worst game of football I’ve seen in a long while,” one spectator said.

“It was a pathetic, scrappy game, even farcical at times.”

With the Gold Coast Titans’ top men Michael Searle and John Cartwright watching on from the grand stand, players from both sides had the chance to impress, but failed miserably, particularly Titans squad member Michael Henderson who dropped carry after carry.

Without influential halfbacks Brad Davis and Tim Maccan, the Seagulls lacked organisation, structure and impetus, completing just one set in the second stanza.

And the Bears, running around like a bunch of headless chooks, weren’t much better.

Both sides scored a try a piece in the first half – Tweed through Dominique Peyroux and Burleigh Adam Fielder – to enter the sheds locked at 4-4.

Although neither side looked like scoring again, it was Robert Apanui who broke through to score the match winner for the visitors.

Now zero from three, the Seagulls travel to Cairns next weekend in search of their first win of the season.

They are seperate organisations which sign deals with the clubs in the NRL. Last year the bears were associated with the Dragons before they saw the light and returned to the mighty titans.

Great...i was hoping he had corrected this! He said it was the thing he was working on to improve. Theres an extra 3 errors at least against the cowboys. Hendo has huge potential but needs to put velcro gloves on or something...

ah, ok, so it is a lot like Major League Baseball here in the States where the players can transition between each level due to affiliation agreements (I think MLB is two years).

Yep we have players assigned with our three feeder teams. Tweed Heads Seagulls just soith of the Gold Coast below the NSW border. Burleigh Bears, a Gold Coast based club and the Ipswich Jets a rugby league mad city 40mins south west of Brisbane city.

Queensland Cup is a very good quality of football and it is very popular on TV. But we only get one game on TV per week. On Saturday's through the ABC. The national broadcaster, it's Federal government funded like the BBC in the UK.

do the feeder teams handle the contract payments or is that the Titans obligations?

And do the feeder teams have to pay the Titans for the affiliation?
